Ed002 I know we don’t talk money but is it’s concern that we seem to be paying so much more in agents fees than other clubs? Is there any particular underlying reason for this or is it simply that we have paid big money for players the last 12-18 months and it goes hand in hand with that.

{Ed002's Note - There is a reason for one enormous payment to an agent last year and another this year. But yes, for some years Liverpool have been top of the agent payment league.}

It's quite shocking how much more we have paid than the club that has paid the second most.

{Ed002's Note - It was expected, as it was for the season before. But I agree it should be much better controlled.}

Mr Ed002, Why should an agent be able to vary their fee depending on the deal or which club their client joins? What are the factors? It makes little sense to me that a flat percentage of the initial transfer fee would not suffice.

{Ed002's Note - The agents/representatives can charge what they want and if a club declines to pay it, they can negotiate or the player will be offered elsewhere. The fact that Liverpool has been overpaying is largely a self-inflicted wound. There are regular discussions about changing the process, and you will see a return to registered agents as a first step. You will also see a ban on agents taking fees for transfers from both club and player. Other matters are up for discussion.}

Ok thanks Ed. It is strange that they have so much power, and they must or the fees wouldn’t be so astronomical relative to what they actually do.

{Ed002's Note - It is what it is - some clubs do things that force the costs up. Some agents are always plotting for the move after next.}

We have gone from regular finishes in 6th 7th and 8th position to challenging for the League and the Champions league titles. We have one of the best squads in the world with at least 4 players that would walk into most teams. The improvement has been so vast so quick that I'm not surprised it took a fair wedge of cash to secure our targets. Now that we are where we want to be I agree its time to start tidying up unnecessary expenditure.

For the most part it's quite a young squad as well, so a couple of quality incomings to replace the likes of Sturbridge leaving and we're set for a good few yrs I think.

I don't think we should worry about this. We ask the club to spend to get top quality players (we've sold top players too) this means we ended up paying lots in agent fee.

Would you rather Klopp doesn't get his preferred transfer targets cause we refuse to pay a little more in agent fee? its like the fans are never happy, they say invest and then say why pay so much.

Also we posted record profits so it seems sustainable.

All clubs are held hostage by agents and its something that needs to be looked at by the FA or other authorities. Liverpool are just playing by the rules set for everyone.

{Ed001's Note - we should worry about it, as it suggests we are allowing ourselves to waste money we could otherwise put towards better players or invest in infrastructure.}
