Great review as always Ed, it's hard not to agree with Colin which just feels dirty.
I know there'll be posters saying what a tough job it is being a ref, but to get the same things wrong every week they're either incompetent or corrupt.

{Ed001's Note - I can't believe any longer it is incompetence when it is the same mistakes made each time. Even an incompetent buffoon eventually learns. The fact that the **** Riley deliberately chooses refs who hate one team playing or support one of the teams playing in almost every game suggests he is anything but incompetent. It has to be wilful negligence or cheating. Attwell in charge of Watford when he supports their local rivals is disgusting. It is bad enough that a guy so utterly crap at refereeing is at the top level anyway, but to give him every possible Watford game just shows Riley is actively being an arse at the least. At the worst he is cheating in the same way as they used to in Italy, when refs would be chosen to favour Juventus. And that is just one small example.}

I think the one season they chose refs for games by picking names out of a hat in the Serie A instead of them being assigned, all the traditional heavyweights suffered and Hellas Verona won the league. No surprise that that system was immediately scrapped and teams like Milan, Juve and Inter were suddenly on top again.

{Ed001's Note - no wonder that system has not been adopted around the world then!}

I must admit, the Warnock bit I didn't read. I'm in a good mood so I can't be having him ruin it, not today, got a long day ahead.

I did think about the refs in Italy but I'm not sure the lot in this country could even cheat without messing it up.
And before people say I'm being harsh because it's such a difficult job, no carrying bricks and blocks round a scaffold is hard (trust me I know) . Open heart surgery is difficult, and a fireman running into a burning building is a 'brave' decision.

Even though Colin is an absolute bell., you have to feel sorry for the club it’s players and supporters. Cardiff were robbed by some horrendous decisions yesterday. An absolute stone wall penalty a goal from obvious offside, another possible penalty and a very good shout for a red card. Im sure if those incidents had happened the other way around the outcome would’ve been very different.

Ed01, I made a promise to Ed025 which I will not break so I will simply say that I found your response to the post from ‘always a red’ very interesting.

{Ed001's Note - it is impossible to believe that Riley is not aware that Attwell, for instance, supports Watford's hated rivals Luton Town and that he has a long history of giving dodgy decisions against them and crap decisions full stop.

Then there is Anthony Taylor, who is continually put under pressure by being given Arsenal games, who he also has a long history of giving contentious decisions against.

Add that to the fact that he will also put a man from Greater Manchester in charge of games between Manchester and Merseyside teams and you realise he is not acting in the best interests of the refs themselves or the game itself. If Mike Riley is allowed to continue in his role, then you can only conclude it is a deliberate policy to pick refs who favour teams in certain matches.

We all know the game is corrupt, but they are making it obvious. As for Ed025, his team don't matter enough in the grand scheme of things to be a part of any of it, so he is not likely to have noticed....}

Ed01, I have always believed that the officiating standards in the PL are reprehensible by design from the powers that be. Cos if it was not, why would NOTHING be done about such dreadful ref. decisions we keep seeing on a weekly basis. it is near criminal, in my view. I mean, there were enough ref. errors in the Cardiff/ City game to fill five games worth of talking points.

Sadly, It seems the Mike Riley's of this world jut allow things to deteriorate this badly. I don't know what or where we go from here BUT it does not seem like it will get any better any time soon esp. with what you just posted in response to WW. Sad!

{Ed001's Note - it does seem to be deliberate or they would be acting to improve things. If anyone who wanted fairness and good refereeing was in a position to act, Mike Riley would have been sacked long ago.}
