Question for Ed001 and indeed fellow reds fans, if all goes well we should make the semi finals of the Champions League and still be challenging for the title with hopefully 1 or 2 games left to play. the question is. would you see this as a successful season if we were to be knocked out in the semis and finish 2nd in the league? Obviously Ed002 has always alluded to the fact that the owners see the league title as a successful season due to the money they have given Klopp but wondered what everyone’s thoughts would be on finishing a close 2nd and a semi final in the UCL, would any fans consider this an unsuccessful season?

{Ed001's Note - I would see it as progress rather than success.}

I agree ed, i think ultimately we need to take a step back and look at the progress we have made. if it were not for one of the most expensively assembled teams in the prem ever, who are arguably the strongest as well.

To be competing with City is exceptional. we can only enjoy the end of the season and hope we can keep the pace.

I am hoping that Anfield can be the 12th man for each and every game we have left, i want the opposition to not be able to think over the roar of Anfield.

Agree with Ed001. It's certainly good progress though.

I have to agree with Ed, it's only a success if we achieve our goals, and that is winning trophies.

We desperately need a bit of silver
Get the monkey off our back
Been far to long since we tasted any form of cup success
2012 long time ago
For a club of our size and the investment put in
7/ 8 years is far to long.

Agree with Ed’s oo1
We have made progress in the league
But let’s be honest 2nd or 4th
Not much different is it?

In my opinion we are going back in the cups bar champions league.

A good show at fa cup and cabero would be great

Making progress on club front but not trophy front

Why is this the case with the club
Need to win something.

Weren’t we like over 20 points behind city last season? If one point behind isn’t progress what is?

Don't give up, we're still in both competitions with the best team we've had for years. Let's enjoy it and keep believing.

Success can really only be measured by titles/ trophies etc.

Whilst I agree with ed002 with regards to the league and the money given to Klopp, what you also have to take into consideration is that we are up against a City side that has out spent everyone and practically has two first choice players in every position. It reminds of when Mourinho first went to Chelsea and the money he was given at his disposal to buy success.

We’ve not had a points tally like this at this stage of the season since our glory days in the 80’s, it’s just a shame we are going tor to toe with the City financial powerhouse at this present moment in time.

I firmly believe we would be crowned champions had the blue half of Manchester not been in the way lol. If we were to beat city to the title then that would be one hell of a success!
