Thanks a lot Ed. It was strange watching Babel score, really felt for him haha never seen someone not enjoy scoring a goal as much. Fair play though, he's been a massive red ever since he joined us and even before that apparently.

{Ed001's Note - yeah he has always been a red mate. It was a dream come true when he signed for us.}

Cheers ed, to be honest, I’d agree in pretty much everything but I did think Origi was well above average when he came on. His energy and enthusiasm is infectious for tired legs and frequently he made himself available and when he did get the ball he looked a threat at making things happen. It’s probably too late in his career at Liverpool to save himself but he has surprised me this season in the few appearances he’s managed from the bench. I’d given up on Milner before but now I think he’s had an outstanding season. Perhaps it’s just wishful thinking that he’ll further improve under klopp to that extent but if nothing else, I would love to see the lad recover the form he had a few seasons ago before he got toffee’d. Would love to see him become, if nothing else, an outstanding off the bench player.

{Ed001's Note - I like Origi. I remember a Belgian coach who worked with him tell me he was the biggest natural talent of their whole squad.}

Thank you Ed, some great views.

I love how unhappy Babel was scoring that goal (I didn't care at the time, I was so furious! ) . You could tell it almost broke his heart tapping it in.

{Ed001's Note - it will have mate. Poor bugger.}

Slightly harsh on the Gini comment about being reliable not to score although I did lol!

Dj Babel, who knows what would have happened if his head wasn't turned by his love of music. I would say he would have been on that list of greats Wirral Wonder was compiling. He was a great player when his head was in the game.

Mbwell77, if I can be pedantic for just a moment - I put forward my personal list of ‘Liverpool legends’ and as numerous posters have pointed out, some actual Liverpool greats did not make my list for all kinds of reasons, admittedly some quite bizarre. For instance, Mark Lawrenson doesn’t make my list because of his daft haircut, for having a beard before they were fashionable and for making pathetic jokes on MOTD.

Glad to see you back Salah Ed. He's playing well still in my opinion. His finishing is just poor of late. Once he gets one, his composure will be back and the floodgates will open.

Fair to say that in the last two games that lalanna has been quicker on the ball Ed? I know he can do more and be even better with his quality but I thought the amount of times he took more than 3 touches was at a much lower rate the last couple games compared to prior?

At some stage in a 10 minute cameo he has 10 unnecessary cruyf turns. I saw a lot less of that the last couple weeks.

Great review again though thank you.

{Ed001's Note - I have to admit I can't even remember him doing a Cruyff turn once, which is not always a plus but it is better than doing 20 for the sake of it! He has been a lot better but there is still a way to go, as he has been so good off the ball, I just want to see him be as good on it again. He was for a short time before the injury problems.}

Ed01, last night I watched a review of the PL from last season on Sky Sports. One of the most noticeable things about so many of Mo Salah’s goals was how natural and relaxed he was in his finishing. I agree that he is getting double- and triple-marked in some games this season and is getting fewer goal scoring chances but he does often look a little tense and tentative when he does get a chance. Is it a simple (ha! ) case of getting him to relax again? And if so how does the coaching team go about doing that? Or does he just keep playing until he gets a goal and it will all be good for him again?

{Ed001's Note - the latter really. It is a natural thing for a goalscorer to tighten up when going through a drought. When he scores it will be like a weight off his shoulders.}

Despite Milner's mistake I thought his sub was instrumental in livening up the team and driving them forward, origi takes some credit for that too. As ed said, he toyed with Christie during his short cameo.

All in all a great result similar to the ones at the start of the season when we were not playing great but still picking up results. It's the reason we are in this position now, which perplexes me all the more when I see moaning despite us actually winning the game.

Lol yeah with Salah it's bound to be a bit more difficult for him this season because of how brutal to defences he can be. The instructions must be as simple as 'don't give him an inch of space' But still, he's joint second goalscorer. Once he scores we're going to see him at his best once again I have no doubt but if not who cares, he's still doing a fantastic job.

Great review Ed, much appreciated mate.

What was really noticeable with Lallana was the way he was gesturing to the players to up the tempo, especially in the first half when play seemed to be a little slow in the final third. You could see his movement off the ball trying to create space in and around the edge of the box. I was really impressed with him but agree with the frustrations you raise about him Ed1. Many thanks for the review.

Despite being almost certain to be relegated Fulham are a much better team at home than away. 15 points at home vs 2 points away shows that. Liverpool, Spurs and Chelsea have all had to fight to the end to beat Fulham at Craven Cottage.

I think Lallana gets unwarranted abuse from us and extremely derogatory remarks such as being “dead weight” and a call to “get rid”. He’s had terrible luck with injuries for a number of years but has always come back fighting. He was a key player under Klopp for a couple of years, and he must be doing something incredible in training to be part of Klopps starting eleven again. It is not his fault that he was put on the wing in the CL final while being hopelessly unfit. In fact it is testament to his work ethic that Klopp even considered him.

He is going through a purple patch right now, so I hope we will take a moment to reflect now so that we are a bit more measured in his criticism next time he is off the pace or saying something not to our taste in the media.

Furthermore I have heard that he is a highly intelligent and a humble bloke outside football.

I hope he wins a medal or two this season with us so he is fondly remembered for the good things he has done (albeit in brief patches) .

{Ed002's Note - Adam Lallana was supposed to be the replacement for Gerrard as captain, and whilst "highly intelligent" is probably not the best description, he is reasonably bright, communicates very well and is really well respected. As a player his career has crashed and burned since the very start after moving to Liverpool nearly five years ago. A knee injury picked up in early training sessions that resulted in him missing some of the preseason and the start of the season. His hamstring seems OK now but I am sure the club are regularly looking at what has become his major issue. He is a very good player and would have been a regular if it weren't for injury. I know that Matt Le Tissier tried to persuade him to stay at Southampton at the time, but Matt has really felt for him as injuries have really wrecked his Liverpool career. I know the fans have very much turned against him, but it doesn't make him any less of a player.}

Great assessment on Lallana, Ed02. I have always admired his raw technical skill, something no other English player possesses, IMO. He is easily two-footed which IMO, should make him the most dangerous player on the pitch cos he is SO unpredictable. Alas, injuries have wrecked his career of late and we wo=ill never know hat might have been cos we know what Lallana is like when on form.

As for the review Ed01, I fully agree with you on VVD. When the ball comes to him, he strangely flails his arms at Allison as if he is expecting him to have come for the ball. What he should have done was to tell Allisson to stay home since he was not coming for the ball and then hack it away. Or, he tells Allison to come for the ball and then he heads it to him so he can catch it. He does NEITHER of those things. Allison as well, makes a mistake for not going for the ball with his hands BUT VVD should have dealt with the issue from jump. Either way, I hope both learn from this episode and communicate better in the future.

I also agree with your assessment of Origi. I have always loved him and ironically like the Belgian coach you mentioned that worked with him in the past, I also thought he was the most naturally gifted CF in the Belgian squad. The likes of Batshuayi, Benteke or Lukaku are NOT better than him in terms of natural talent, IMO. I hope he can stay and keep improving cos there is too much talent in there to waste.

Saints fan here, browsing through the other clubs pages. talk of lallana, when he left us I was devastated not because of how he supposedly went "judas" on us or stitched us up or anything like that. purely because he was on absolute fire for us and thought he was going to be our new le tiss replacement for the long term. Injuries have really wrecked his Liverpool career, but when fit and MATCH fit with an extended run in the team he's a fantastic player. He looked like England's best player at times and seemed perfect for international football but it seems every time he started to make himself undroppable, he would get injured. Would love him back at saints. Failing that id like to seem him stay and succeed at Liverpool, rather than move to some other club. although apparently he did grow up as an Everton fan so maybe he'd move across the park? Lol.

{Ed025's Note - its a pity that hes a real pussy milky, the heart of a mouse that boy..

Lallana was instrumental when Klopp first came in for instituting the high press strategy. We should not forget how important he was to setting the tone for the rest of the team and establishing the platform we now have built on.

Unfortunately injuries and our style has evolved so his slowing down of the play when on the ball is more visible, and the quality of the side has improved too, but he’s still a useful squad player when on form (just not on the wing please! ) .

{Ed001's Note - he looked really good playing as a 'false 9'.}

Ed002, thanks for the insight!

Ed25, heart of a mouse? Wow have you ever seen Lallana bottle a challenge, lose a 50/ 50, or shown poor work rate? If nothing else, the guy has commitment!

{Ed025's Note - that could be me being over sceptical hanif, i have a deep mistrust of players who are out injured a lot, daniel sturridge has a lot to answer for mate..

Great technician on the ball.
For me he lacks a bit of pace at the highest level, in terms of raw speed but also in terms of moving the ball. It’s a shame because his skill creates space and opportunity but he gives opponents time to catch up with him by delaying.
He had one excellent half season.
I always thought he was more suited to international football or domestic football in another country where the physicality is less important and skill is a premium.

{Ed001's Note - I totally agree Ron. Like James in that respect, he is so slow he can only shine on an international stage, which is closer to walking football that league football as a comparison point.}

Fantastic review as always.

I actually flew into London for the game to watch it live at Craven Cottage (I used to be a Fulham season ticket holder when I was based in London) .

Few notes from my side which I would love your input on:

Firstly, Matip. He drives me crazy. I can forgive the occasional mistakes here and there, but the thing that really gets under my skin is that he really doesn't seem to care all that much we win or lose.

Watch his response (if it shows on the TV replays) when Milner slots away the penalty. Most players run half way across the pitch to celebrate. Trent went mental and started agressively fist pumping. Mane started screaming in joy. What did Matip do? Nothing. showed zero emotion. What do you think?

My next observation was Salah's impact. I really don't think he is being given enough credit at the moment. Every single time he gets the ball two or three Fulham players would swarm on to him. I really think that without this Mane would not be as impactful for us at the moment. Also doesn't help that every time he got the ball the entire stadium started chanting "CHEAT" at him!

Lastly, a big shout out to Lallana. He really rans his socks off. Pressing all over the pitch. If you are Shaquiri, or Keita sat on the bench, i would be taking notes, as I imagine this is the type of closing down that Klopp is really looking for in his midfield three.

All in all a very important result.

All my Fulham mates reckon the only reason he continually gets picked for the side is because it must be in his contract to start every game he is fit. He has been one of the worst players in the side this season (which is really saying something) .

Red Sandman.

Bit of a low blow ed025!. especially considering he genuinely had a heart problem that needed sorting. 😅
He's definitely not a stirrings when it comes to injuries. He puts himself about, was key to the press with saints and as shown against Fulham was key to it then. Cracking player, plenty of heart otherwise wouldn't have captained saints or been considered to take the armband after Gerrard retirement.

{Ed025's Note - i did not know that MS, but when i said heart i meant it in the context of will to win mate..

I know what you meant 025. bit of banter lol. Keep up the good work and chat eds. Always appreciated 👍.
