Question for ed001 please,

How are the coaching staff handling Salah at the minute? he's starting to look a little frustrated and jaded by his own form and it affects some of his decisions.

Obviously it's not reason for anyone to panic but I was curious what the staff do with a player when they're in this kind of situation.

{Ed001's Note - from what I am told, they are working on just making him relax and not to worry about not scoring. Clearly it is bothering him, but they are trying to just take his mind off it. The team is winning, which is the important thing, so it doesn't matter, and that is what he is being told. Just keep going and it will eventually end up going in the back of the net. Plus I can see a few teams wanting to double up on Mane, which will mean one less man to mark Salah. Space will come then.}

I was just thinking that ed. Our front 3 are spectacular, and teams focusing on stopping Salah has given Mane the chance to take over the goalscoring burden. Pretty soon they'll start doubling up on mane, which will free Salah a little. Focus on stopping both of them, and that'll free up bobby and (hopefully) allow the more attacking midfielder, be that Naby or Lallana, the chance to chip in with more goals. Can't double up on everyone, Salahs time will come again soon.

You see every time salah gets the ball he beats a man and is doubled or tripled up on, it’s not easy to get space, but it means there will be somewhere. I think he should think about releasing it early for the first 15 mins, and maybe lull in the other covering players, so they start to pick up others, then suddenly turn it on.

If players are surrounding you. Pass early as possible. He was detrimental to our attack today.

i rekon we need TAA and our midfield to provide better angles for Mo. he so often gets the ball down the wing and his little option other than to take on his opponent or cut on to his left. In a really different context and level, its a bit like when we had mario. I felt like we could have adjusted to his game and played better angles around him rather than lumping it up to him. anyways, having said all of that, the shots he is putting straight at the keeper this season were finding the top corner last. so maybe a bit of luck and a healthy ricochet can help get him back on track!

How are they handling Firmino - shocking season so far. Completely out of sorts most games.

It's a team of eleven players so if one player doesn't score no harm in one of the other ten too pop u with a goal is it? , it's part an parcel of football, bet when salah scores one floodgates will open for him! Isn't it his 50th goal he searching for that's probably on his mind!

Crazy that people are bemoaning our front 3 but we are currently top of the league.
We don't bomb forward with the same numbers as last season so it is bound to be harder for the front players.

Salah is still causing defences problems and getting himself in good positions, I think he is trying too hard to score which is maybe affecting his decision making, there were times today when he should have passed before he was crowded out by the opposition.
Once he gets a goal he will be fine.

{Ed025's Note - that could be next season the way hes playing..

Salah and Bobby have 28 goals and 12 assists between them in the league this season.

I really wish we had more players who were in such shockingly poor form.

{Ed025's Note - mane is bailing them both out SR, without him it would look a very different picture mate..

benny baller is right. Salah is sucking all the players to him. I f salah wants to get space on the ball, he needs to focus on assisting other teammates. Eventually teams will see its stupid pressing him as it leaves gaps in their defence and then salah can go back to his old self. Salah just needs to keep passing. Stop trying to take on 3 people. Use it to our advantage. Salah is great at assisting but 4 times out of 5 he doesn't do it.

When Salah gets the ball anywhere near the box, there are at least 2 or 3 players surrounding him.

These players are clearly leaving gaps, so for me, when Salah makes his runs, there needs to be a runner with him so he can release the ball straight away. On so many occasions Salah runs into 3 defenders only to look up and find no one to pass to.

{Ed025's Note - that does happen at times drogie, but more than not he does have a man available but refuses to pass mate..

No other team in the PL has 3 players who have all scored more than 10 goals in the Premier League this season - Mo and Sadio with 17 each and Bobby with 11. Please, stop moaning and cherish our front three while we have them, they are streets ahead of anything else in this country and will take us to the PL title.

We've scored the exact same amount of goals through 30 games as last season so no need to panic there.

Salah looks like the magic 50 is playing on his mind a bit to be fair, but the flood gates will open soon enough and we're top of the league.

Cities April is brutal, really feeling good right now.

Just to clarify my original post wasn't a complaint about Salah (I specifically said its not panic stations) I was just curious from a professional level what the coaching staff do to alleviate psychological stress at Liverpool.

I do this for a profession in US sports so it was a question of how this problem is tackled in football (which still believes that psychology has no place in sports mostly)

If you can't score you should assist as it will still boost your confidence as a player then the goals will flow. Right now Salah is taking the machine gun approach which he tries to shoot from every possible angle!

Some on here have short memories. There was a period earlier in the season when Salah was the one making the decisive contribution in games when others weren't quite at their best.
Every player has periods where they’re not at their best. Fortunately it’s a team game.
I also can’t believe there’s any moaning at all. 76pts after 31 games and into ch league quarter finals again.

I have to disagree with you in some respect 25.Whilst I do agree, he doesn’t always pass, there are a number of times when he makes the run, gets forced wide, looks up to find there is no one near him to pass too.

{Ed025's Note - that does happen drogie, but i have seen quite a few instances where mane has been free and the pass just does,nt come mate..

Ed25, there are times that Mane does not pass either so if you are going to use that as a stick to beat Salah with, it is only fair that you do the same for Mane. As for Salah not scoring, I'm not too bothered about it cos the fact that his mere presence on the pitch does the oppositions' heads in, shows how great a player he has proven to be. As long as he keeps playing his game and plugging away, the goals will come cos like it or not, we may win the PL with Mo BUT we ain't winning it W/ O Mo. That much is clear.

{Ed025's Note - its just how i see it redwolf, i dont know if its a symptom of a dry run for him but he does seem to be a bit greedy lately mate..
