Karius hasn't been paid for 4 months! And then the manager criticizing him for not having enough motivation. What a joke?

{Ed001's Note - it is the way of things in Turkey it seems. There are always problems paying wages.}

Thanks for the read Ed. Shame to hear Karius is not having the best of times. To be honest it seemed like an odd move at the time for the lad. Shocking to hear about the pay debacle.

What's your take on Peter Beardsley ed, is he guilty do you think.

{Ed001's Note - I am not going to judge a man without knowing any of the situation.}

Morning Ed. Do you happen to know what constitutes as bullying nowadays? Beardsley just doesn’t seem to strike me as that kind of fella.

{Ed001's Note - in what way? He comes from a different era when players were subjected to verbal abuse as part of their everyday life. So it is very possible he has crossed a line.}

Cheers Ed, I just asked as he doesn't seem the type to me, but as you say he does come from a different era, I started a trade 22yrs ago where been shouted at and taking the p**s out of was the norm, something that wouldn't be accepted today.

{Ed001's Note - exactly mate, in football it was used 'to toughen up' youngsters, there is obviously the possibility Peebo is doing the same thing. I mean he would have suffered huge amounts of bullying on his way up, no doubt, and the ones most bullied are often those who go on to become bullies. He doesn't seem like he would on the surface but you can never tell.}

Manager profile on Van Gaal Ed?

{Ed001's Note - ok mate, will do.}

Gmil pretty much summed up what I meant tbh. Unless it was actually anything more than just giving a ‘toughening up’ treatment (ie prolonged verbal abuse at only one or two individuals) I can’t see what the problem is. Thicker skins are needed all round I think.

{Ed001's Note - sorry but that 'toughening up' treatment has been shown to be nothing more than abusive behaviour which leaves people with deep-rooted psychological damage. The only difference is that now people admit to it, rather than hiding it. Just like the world is no more violent, it is just now it is covered constantly on TV. It is not thicker skins these kids need, it is to be treated with respect by those who are meant to be there to support and guide them, not subject them to abuse.}

Should / can Liverpool call an end to Karius’ loan in Turkey?
Not being paid for 4 months?
I know these players aren’t exactly broke, but this sounds more like a punishment than a loan.

{Ed002's Note - Karius could easily cancel it himself if he wanted to.}

Well yes I agree that abuse is not right, but that depends on what constitutes as abuse or bullying. I think the line has dropped so far down now that you can’t say anything remotely negative or personal without it being interpreted as abuse. That’s what I meant. I still think that thicker skins are needed by everyone, not just the kids, because if they say ‘Mr Blahdeblah said I can’t kick a ball to save my life’ (or whatever), to their parents and that parent takes exception to their little bundle of joy’s ability being questioned, then it can quite easily get out of hand. By all means support the kids, tell them when they’re good, not just bad and encourage them through positivity, in the main. We have to be wary of desensitising them though. Soft people in a hard world will just exacerbate problems.

Look, we’ll probably have to agree to disagree on certain aspects of this one and I don’t want to get into any arguments today, I just hope Mr Beardsley gets fair judgement, not simply box ticking.

{Ed001's Note - that would not constitute an abuse investigation if he had said that. Why come out with idiotic stuff like that which shows no understanding of the actual situation?}

13 Mar 2019 13:22:47
Well if a throw away comment with no context like that were to count as abuse then no wonder society is falling apart. A responsible parent would say, ‘well let’s work hard and prove him wrong’, not ‘poor baby let’s complain instead of working out why he said it’.

This is the point. Having a different view does not make it idiotic. I think yours could be construed as idiotic, but I’m not rude enough to say so, hence agreeing to disagree. End of.

Cheers Ed, would be an I teresting read RE Van Gaal. I think he's remembered for the wrong reasons for his time at united.

{Ed001's Note - I am not so sure, he seems to have built a career off other people's good work in the main.}

Hey Ed001, where's the team pic come from? Seems an interesting mix of world class players from history and some people who play for Man Utd?!

{Ed001's Note - hahaha.}
