Bit of fun. Fabhino or mascherano. Then does fab have the potential to get near souness's level in the next 5 years.

Fabinho all day long and yes.

Fabinho's better than Masch.

Mascherano was a good player for us (sometimes I think a little bit of revisionism goes on about that), but Fabinho is as effective defensively with less fuss and fewer last ditch tackles, and uses the ball better.

Souness' level? A bit premature at this stage, let's not forget that Souness was *really* good. But definitely I think Fab has Hamann in his sights.

Hopefully Fabinho will be better than Masherano. As for getting to near Souness's level absolutely zero chance and that's being extremely kind.

Soybeans was a monster of a player, he was an incredible footballer who could pass, score, get forward and defend, he never lost a battle, you’d take him on and lose. Best centre midfielder we’ve ever had and the best I’ve ever seen. Period. As for Fabinho, he’s a better footballer than Masch by miles as he has a good range of passing and can shoot, two things you could never accuse Mascherano of being able to do.

{Ed025's Note - food for thought at least.. :)

Fabinho for me. Don’t forget Masch played next to Alonso and Stevie in thier prime.

Soybeans was a tasty midfielder.

{Ed025's Note - and got the pulses running..

Masch had Alonso and Gerrard. Probably the best midfield in the world at the time. If Fab had these two he'd be even better so Fab for me also!

Mascherano used his work rate to cover for a lot of his deficiencies.

Fab reads the game better and is a better passer.

Spot on, Ron. Fab doesn't even have to run around aimlessly covering for his and others' mistakes like Masche used to do. He reads the game so well that he barely even has to make a tackle. There's the proof, right there.

As the great Paulo Maldini once said, "I considered making a tackle, as failure to do my job".

Fabinho without a doubt, simply because he is a better all round player. Better on both the defensive and offensive skill set and his height is a definite advantage.

Souness? Oh please. Fabinho has yet to even complete an entire year with LFC yet. Don't even dare to ask about a comparison yet.

I know the souness thing is very premature but the question was does he have the potential.

I agree with you though, fab way better than masch, who was a very good player for us.

I think fab will be considered the best in the league by the end of next season if not the one after.
