Great post Ed01 so thank you. Talking of different languages. I worked in Australia for a few years, office environment.

I used to always bump into an Asian woman every morning and say “Alright” as you know meaning Hello. Every morning this lovely woman would stop and say I am very very well how are you?

After three months or so, I just had to pull her to one side and explain when I say Alright to you, I am simply just saying hello. She laughed and after that, would go to say how she was, then stop herself and say hi.
