Question for Ed002.I want to ask you a stupid question and I expect you to chastise me for it, but if you don’t ask you don’t get. so my question, is the creation of a pan European league anything to do with protecting the highest earning clubs from the threat of the rising Chinese league? . or to keep the top European league clubs relevant in case of the emergence of a fifa champions league? . sorry if my questions are Naive and the answer is a lot simpler.

{Ed002's Note - No, it is nothing to do with China. The discussions have been around a long time, long before the money was making a significant difference in the Chinese game. But to be fair, there have been proposals put to the "elite" sides including a Chinese proposal from the Dalian Wanda Group which proposes to open up the lucrative Chinese and Far Eastern media markets by extending the league to include Chinese and South American clubs. This has yet to be discussed by the "elite" sides as a group although the proposals have been presented to a number of them already on an individual basis. The proposals are very broad-based and lack detail - their selling point is significant additional income for the "elite". The general feeling from informal discussions over cocktails is that the "elite" would not want it on a league basis but could be open to including other sides in a some sort of expanded World Club. FIFA has also discussed further expanding the Club World Cup, but that is not something the clubs want. So it is unrelated to both issues.}

Thanks Ed002.i suppose the tv rights for games such as Beijing Sinobo Guoan vs Real Madrid would be quite lucrative. very interesting, thanks for the insight. do you know which continent has the fastest growing media sales for football. i assume as people’s wages grow they can afford, amazon, cable, sky or their versions.
