Just the result needed. I am the most optimistic fan there is but the last few results gave me a not quite so happy 2nd place feeling (still a great achievement against the multiple £50million fullback buying machine) . Tonight showed at the top both teams can have off days and both teams can steamroller teams aswell.

Tonight showed the importance of TAA and full backs to our system. I said 12 hours ago the need and importance of TAA and his exceptional abilities to cross the ball. Full backs offering width is the most important notion of klopp’s system. Salah is a different machine when he has TAA offering an outlet to pass the ball behind the defense.

I couldn't agree more. You could argue that outside our defense, only Fabinho and firmimo (last season) have the ability to pick a final pass. Our priority next summer should be purchasing quality back up for TAA and Robertson and a creative midfielder.

J a n, you're bang on mate, I also think milner operates better in a free role. He works so well with both full backs, the guy is phenomenal. Matip is getting better in a red shirt too. That's a few clean sheets on the bounce now and 4 in 5 I think. Also salah is much more effective on the wing imo. I think mane has the better attributes to play cf than salah.

Everyone was excellent last night, fabhino really impressed me. The worst player in a red shirt was origi and he scored a banger and caused their rb problems. I have been saying he is nowhere near as good as Sturridge but I think I need to reevaluate. Studge is knackered and lazy, getting on a bit. Knows he will never be the player he could have been, whereas origi is young, strong, quick and hungry. His height and strength add another dimension to our attack. Possibly taking a cb with him on corners and wide free kicks and leaving space for vvd and mane.

Well chuffed with the performance, gutted that city got the pen, it was a valiant effort from the hammers. But if we play like that every week the title is ours. And we have a decent shout in the ucl too.

Alisson 8 did all that was asked of him and didn't dilly dally on the ball.

Taa 9 pure class performance. Delivery was superb, energy was high. One of his best performances in a red shirt.

Matip 8 dealt with everything that came his way. Was more energetic than we have previously seen. Kept the line well and came across to deny watford

Vvd 9 1/ 2 best cb in the league 100%. Brilliant reading of the game and two top class headers

Robbo 7 1/ 2 great energy and work rate. Not as effective with origi as he is with mane but still played very well.

Gini 7 1/ 2 solid performance. Did the dirty work. Got stuck in, stitched up play and made it difficult for Watford to keep hold of the ball.

Fabhino 9 probably his best Liverpool performance. Absolutely bossed the midfield. Loved the way he knocked delafue to floor with contempt and won the ball fairly.

Milner 8 1/ 2 was all over the park, skill, intelligence and energy made it really hard for Watford to get hold of the ball.

Salah 9 back to his best. Deserved a goal. Caused the lb to have a nightmare. He couldn't even foul salah as he was too strong and quick.

Mane 9 first goal calmed our nerves and second goal was pure class. Love those cheeky goals

Origi 7 played a few poor passes and looked a little cold at first but after he had a shot on target he grew into the game. I hope klopp keeps him in the summer. Beautiful goal.

{Ed0333's Note - thanks for the summary Robbie. The watford players will have to watch a tape of that game again sometime this week and I bet Massina will be cringing all the way through. He was absolutely abused all game.

Nice one robbie.

Tell you what, I agree about Origi but I'd like to see more of him, maybe he just needs more game time to gain more confidence? I don't know if he's good enough for us yet but he has moments of brilliance, should he be kept?
I think he should be, I still think he's got more to offer. The biggest problem is dropping the likes of Firmino in order for him to get game time which is literally impossible so it's an awkward one but personally I think he deserves more time with us. I just have one of them feelings that he'd end up going somewhere like Newcastle and do really well, I'd rather have him at Liverpool for another season at least.

{Ed025's Note - i dont know why you think dropping bobby is impossible salah?, any player who is not producing the goods can and should be dropped and just because hes a fan favourite it should make no difference, firmino has hardly set the world alight this season mate and maybe a spell out could do him the world of good..

5.) 28 Feb 2019
28 Feb 2019 08:04:25
We don’t have a quality back up for Firmino hence he cannot he dropped. It’s the same case at full backs. The only area we have players is midfield which is why Henderson is being dropped for better players in Fabinho and Wijnaldum.
We have shaqiri who cold do a job on the right. Nobody on the left and none up top. It’s a fact. We need to address these positions in the summer.

6.) 28 Feb 2019
28 Feb 2019 08:42:42
Thing is Ed, in my opinion mate, we don't have anybody available to match Firmino, he's a genius on that pitch, he doesn't have to score goals to prove his worth for me, he's so vital to the team it's unreal.

I do agree with you Harry (A first ;) ) about us needing some backup, some quality backup but the problem is who do we get who is willing to play second fiddle to the top boys? Many would say Werner but 1. He would want guaranteed football and 2. I don't think he's good enough for this level, I've seen him play many times and I just can't imagine him at Liverpool BUT I've said that many times in the past and been proved wrong lol.

Personally when it comes to attacking options, next season I want to see a couple of the young lads given a go. When it comes down to the summer transfer window I'm hoping to see cover for the LB and RB positions, anything else is a bonus but I see it been a big window for us once again with both ins and outs.

{Ed025's Note - bobby was not that vital last night salah and against an in form team like watford, i think supporters get pre-conceived ideas on the importance of certain players and cant see the wood for the trees, bobby is a very good player but is he un-dropable....i dont think so mate..

7.) 28 Feb 2019
28 Feb 2019 09:04:09
100% agree ed, on this seasons form Firmino doesn't deserve to automatically regain his place. Mane scored goals from crosses quite possibly Firmino would not have got on the end of those.

Last season Firmino walked back in the team this season he needs to improve. How can he be vital? we just produced our best game of the season with Firmino not playing. I would rather keep Mane centre forward, maybe Keita in midfield diamond.

Firmino has to earn his place, you can't play below his average nearly all season and walk back into the team. I hope it will be the kick up the arse he needs.

8.) 28 Feb 2019
28 Feb 2019 09:29:48
So without Firmino Mark, tell me the formation you'd have and the players you'd have on? your ideal starting lineup would be?

He has to earn his place? you're speaking soft mate, he's done that over and over again, he's one of the most important players in the team. I agree he could be doing better, but to drop him? no chance.

Yes we had a great game last night and yes he wasn't on but we'd of still annihilated them if he was on! be all and end all is he doesn't make the team worse, he improves it, he's better than Origi, anybody who wants Origi ahead of him needs their heads sorting out, the odd game sure to rest Firmino but not to push him out and say 'work for your place'. That's Nonsense talk.

{Ed025's Note - just my opinion of course salah but i think everyone has to earn his place, if they dont thats where complacency sets in, im not origi,s biggest fan but last night there was a lot more energy up top than there has been lately and it was a million miles from sundays no show, maybe i do need my head sorting out mate but to have blind faith in any player is naive to say the least..

9.) 28 Feb 2019
28 Feb 2019 10:01:39
I was really impressed with Origi last night - and that was before he scored. You can argue that every player should work hard but he came in and did more than just a good job. As a striker, he doesn’t have the link up and instinct needed in Klopp’s team but in Mane’s role he was up and down, tackling back and causing trouble at the other end. He’s no long term answer, but maybe it’s another option for us for now.

10.) 28 Feb 2019
28 Feb 2019 10:09:22
You make good points Ed25 mate, points I don't personally agree with mate but good points. I do agree about Origi last night though, he wasn't as incredible as people make out but he did enough, I do want to see more of the lad, I really believe we should stick with him but it's Firmino all day long ahead of him unless we see some spectacular performances from Origi then things may change.

{Ed025's Note - we all have opinions mate and thats what its all about, now do you change that side for sunday so you can fit bobby in if he recovers?..not for me, it was a great team performance against one of the better sides in the league, and if i was divok and was dropped i would be seriously miffed i can tell you, but thats up to klopp and how he intends to set up the team, we will see i suppose my friend..

11.) 28 Feb 2019
28 Feb 2019 10:15:53
Over the course of the season of course Firmino has to be a starter but we can't blindly say he needs to start every game irrespective of the situation and form. I love Bobby but he’s not had a great season by his high standards. And given that he’s coming back from injury, I personally wouldn’t tinker with the team for Everton. I mean origi had a good game, scored a good goal and played his part in another. His confidence will be up and to drop him now would be wrong imo.

I do agree we need stronger back up for next season but next season really shouldn’t be a concern when we’re in the thick of a title race.

{Ed025's Note - i agree reyrey, if your origi and bide your time then when it comes you perform well you will expect to retain your place, if not whats the point mate?..

12.) 28 Feb 2019
28 Feb 2019 10:15:56
I agree with Ed025. We’ve been shocking recently but last night was different. Maybe firmino does need some time out? Why shouldn’t he be made to fight for his place? Origi wasn’t exactly world class put he put himself about, Mane and Salah were back to their very best. I say stick with the team we put out last night for sunday and make substitutions accordingly if it doesn’t work in the first half.

{Ed025's Note - that sounds fair to me AW..

13.) 28 Feb 2019
28 Feb 2019 10:39:31
Origi's performance last night was impressive just highlights what a howler of a decision it ws by klopp on Sunday to bring on Sturridge.

14.) 28 Feb 2019
28 Feb 2019 11:13:26
I agree he should be made to earn his place back. We have been poor up front recently (Bournemouth aside) and last night was a breath of fresh air. As I said last season Firmino walks into the side this season no way, he has overall had a below par season.

I hope the situation will give him the drive he needs to start bringing his A game. I like the lad and appreciate him but he should fight to get back he the team (like most players) .

Even you Salah wanted to drop him in November.

15.) 28 Feb 2019
28 Feb 2019 11:13:49
If I remember right Bobby was (unplayable back to his best) against Bournemouth (Eds001 review) , a half HR against utd in a lackluster game doesn't put Divok in the team ahead of him for me.

{Ed025's Note - so bobby blue eye gets a shoe in every time for you IDLLK?, even if he is playing poorly, that was your best performance of the year last night and if it were me mate i would not change a thing, maybe divok should whiten his teeth so he looks like an american game show host and he would get in.. :)

16.) 28 Feb 2019
28 Feb 2019 11:29:37
Agree Ed. That kind of message I can’t imagine would be good for the squad

What’s your thoughts for Sunday?

{Ed025's Note - i will be watching it from behind my sofa reyrey, if you play like you did last night i think you will blow us away, but as always i live in hope that we get the odd good break and dont embarrass ourselves mate, please get bobby fit.. :)

17.) 28 Feb 2019
28 Feb 2019 12:07:27
I thought Origi did very well last night, working very hard and scoring a deserved goal. But for me a fully fit Bobby Blue Eyes and White Teeth is one of the first on the team sheet for the next match alongside Alisson, VVD, Fabinho and Salah. I don’t agree with the proposition that he has had a below par season. He might not have been as eye-catching as far as goals and assists is concerned but his overall team contribution in a slightly different role has been just as effective and important as ever. If Ed01 and other posters are correct (and I think and hope they are) and we are going balls-out for the PL title with a return to the full pressing game then who better to lead the charge than Bobby?

{Ed025's Note - so a player comes in, gets his chance, does very well....then you drop him?...hmmmm, im sure that will do wonders for the squad players morale mate..

18.) 28 Feb 2019
28 Feb 2019 12:20:43
Firmino has not really been a 20+ goal scorer for us apart from last season. Weirdly it is not his goals that make him a great centre forward. It's his all round game. He tracks back, he clears corners, he is strong and holds the ball up well. He is the best technical player we have (probably) he has top vision.

I think we have tried to play too much tikky takky stuff, through the centre of oppositions. The big three got so much praise last season it just feels they are trying too hard to emulate the same stuff this season. When we should be doing what we do best, press high and hard, attack from the wings with mane and salah, trent and robbo.

And remember, salah has played cf a lot this season with Bobby either playing deeper or out wide.

Origi scored a good goal but didn't do that much else. Won a corner and had a shot on target but I bet he gave the ball away way more than any other red. Don't get me wrong, I like him. He showed his shooting ability.

But I agree with salah 100%, Bobby over divock all day. He's just the better player. Although with his record against Everton I would be tempted to try and play them both, with mane and salah too. I dunno how. Mane up top with salah Bobby and Origi just behind?

19.) 28 Feb 2019
28 Feb 2019 12:44:13
I think even Firmino himself would not be happy with his overall level this season. His tracking back has not been to last seasons level, never mind quality on the ball in the final third. I would say in addition to your 4 players Robbo, Trent, Mane, Matip (as there is no one else fit) are all more important than Firmino at this moment.

Lasts season he had some outstanding games where he played world class football. I remember both legs Hoffenhiem, Roma, Man City league and CL. Porto away and some league games Bournemouth and Brighton away I think. Plus other league games too where he was top of his game. He has very rarely got anywhere near that level this season.

20.) 28 Feb 2019
28 Feb 2019 13:11:28
Ed025, that’s a very good point and ordinarily I would agree with you. But I think that a) Klopp has engendered a real “all in it together” feeling within the whole squad; and b) the whole squad recognise the value of Bobby to the team and there would be no impact on morale if he came straight back. Divock Origi might not agree with me though!

{Ed025's Note - the all together feeling is great when you are winning WW, but when your not and if you start losing points then things can change mate..

21.) 28 Feb 2019
28 Feb 2019 13:42:27
If I wanted to drop him in November, mark it'd of been purely to rest him. Please quote what I said. I'm not saying you're wrong, I do recall saying something about resting him, you clearly remember better than me so quote me please.

22.) 28 Feb 2019
28 Feb 2019 15:41:09
I don't remember exactly either mate. But he was having a bad time before December and it was suggested he be dropped/ rested and you reluctantly agreed, as did some of his other main supporters.

I really hope he can step up to last seasons level. In December he looked to me he was really getting there. A fully firing Firmino makes the title a lot more likely. Mane and Salah playing like last night, with a proper Firmino would take us to the title no doubt.
