Hi eds
Is there a review for the Man U game?

{Ed001's Note - not yet just doing it now.}

Waiting for your review Ed01. And must be the only thread that would discuss about the game.

it is a difficult job doing a review and marking each player no one will agree on everything from a game. Maybe you will agree ed (I will wait to see) I thought Klopp was trying his best to get them up the pitch and from his substitutions you could see he wanted to win the game. A lot of the players basically let him down. He should have got Trent on earlier but maybe he has not fully recovered.

Yeah this one I really look forward to.

Well he might have thought marital would be playing and Milner might a better option containing the pace and trickery of martial. I can’t see another logical explanation in playing a CM over a RB.
The other reason could be how UTD exploited TAA last time we played there.
I agree TAA not a great defender but is brilliant going forward and whipping in balls!
If anything it shows we do not have adequate cover at full backs. Isn’t it?

I think your right he was worried about what happened last year. But Rashford got injured so we should have gone for it. The main problem for me was the midfield being so negative and Mane and Salah not being able to control the ball or pass it 5 yards. We never created a chance in 90 minutes.

Apologies to your 0 key in advance Ed.

Salah - before the ed's review can you say what you think of that performance agains't utd.

Do you think that level of performance agains't a poor utd side was acceptable?

nice one Flidy. I think its the minus key he should be worried about

Mane -
Salah -
Hendo -
sturridge -
Shaq -

there could be more.

The midfield was not negative. It is what you get when you pick three similar players. Nobody stopped klopp in Playing Keita (who is different to all others) . We don’t have too many options to chose from. Wijnaldum and Henderson are so similar it’s like playing a twins.
Our midfielders hardly scores so it’s no relevance who you play there. They are all practical ball winners. Aren’t they?
Then there is the approach. Klopp of last year would have gone for more attack minded set up.

I agree he played 3 midfielders who are all very similar. But people on here love Hendo and Gini and in their former days both have played further forward. I don't rate either and neither would make my first 11 so I suppose you are right this is Klopp's fault. Kieta was starting to play better and should have been the first midfielder on the team sheet.

If your midfield can't boss that Utd midfield I think you have major issues. Agains't City you expect it but agains't Utd's worst midfield for 25 years you have to change something or everything if you can't get the better of those players.

26 Feb 2019 12:09:58
Were you actually discussing about the game? Or just whine and highlighted the same recycled points you used to bash-particularly the midfielders, and kept on quoting City players and Pep's tactics-in every single game that the team drew or lose?

I agree, though I would play Gini in my team alongside Fabinho and the third midfielder must be an offensive minded attacking CM. Wijnaldum is technically excellent but don’t expect him to be a Lampard (scoring goals from midfield ) . Fabinho will protect the defense. And that’s all you need to play Keita in a more advancing role ( All though I would play Keita more centrally alongside Fabinho just like he played at RBL, picking the ball from defense and running at the opposition and picking a pass) .

Klopp doesn’t trust Shaqiri in midfield. So that’s the option out of the window.

Klopp prefers workmanlike midfield, like it or not that’s his choice and the consequences of that choice is less goals from midfield.

I think he played milner at rb coz he wanted a sensible head there. It's easy to lose your head in a Derby, more so seeing as trent is a scouser. We have seen trent targeted too and by playing milner at rb it just takes that option away. Milly isn't easy to pass.

Gini has been overall our best midfielder this season (much better than I expected) . I think though he can/ should be effecting the game in the final third. With the Ox out my midfield 3 would be the same as yours.

I agree Robbie and I thought Milner did a decent job in defensive terms. If that is what Klopp wanted he did it.

16.) 26 Feb 2019

Well we all could agree on Wijnaldum. The ghost deserves a place in our midfield ( remember he was dog abused by pundits on this site for being not good enough ) . keita has to play else it’s a joke that we splashed record money on him.
People need to remember, Milner was a flop at LB, he also flopped in CM and I don’t know why many think he is a good option on the right. He has no pace and does not hit the byline. Our system demands width.
If anything it shows the lack of options on the full back areas.

Milner got into the right positions on Sunday it was just his delivery was atrocious.
Which is not something you say regularly about him.
Also, he has not flopped! Before his spell out he was first name on the team sheet this season!

Gini was terrible last season and 6 decent months haven't fully changed my opinion that there are many better players out there. I don't recall seeing City's full backs contributing any more than our full backs are in the final third.

Away at OT Milner's first and most important job is clean sheet and he helped with that. Take a look at the front 3 what did they contribute?

I will disagree on Wijnaldum. Technically he is miles better than both Milner and Henderson combined. It’s a fact! Wether you agree it or not is a different issue. Wiji is excellent on the ball and very hard to knock of. He has serious pace and strength and his composure is top class but unfortunately he doesn’t get into the box which is one reason we splashed £60 mill on Kieta to do that job.

I don’t agree that Milner did a great job at RB. What is a good job of a Full back? It’s not mere stopping an attack it’s also going forward at every opportunity and providing an outlet for your winger to pass on and contribute massively upfront. He simply does not! He has no pace.

Our front three needs support. They can’t do all by themselves week in week out. With midfield not contributing going forward and full backs acting like defenders, it’s very easy to stop Salah and Mane and Firmino is already playing as an auxiliary CM despite of isn’t playing 3 CM. So that’s 4 midfielders in the team!

Cheers.

Milner has been a class act for the last three seasons. He filled in at lb and saw us make ucl qualification with a pretty shoddy defence. Then in the ucl he had the most assists. Not just in the Liverpool team but every team in the cup. He has intelligence, he has determination and he has technical ability. I don't understand people knocking him. I can only imagine they only watch highlights. He makes things happen and is probably the midfielder who gets the most goals bar shaq (maybe) and the ox. He plays a dcm role when asked, he plays as an acm when asked. He operates on the wing effectively and will play at wing back/ full back when asked.

We should be proud to have him at the club. He has always said he wants to win something with Liverpool and his experience is the kind of thing we will need to get over the line and win this league after 29 years.

It was a game that really messed with my head. It was as if all the Liverpool players suddenly realised they had SO MUCH space and thought, "ah heck, we have loads of time, let's try something different and just hoof the ball around! "
I honestly don't know how Jurgen didn't march onto the pitch and slap a few of them around the mug. We should have been able to score 6 or 7 against what remained of that Utd side.
If we don't see a massive reaction against Watford then the dream is over for another season.

{Ed025's Note - maybe you all need to get a grip polecat, even if you dont get a win against watford its far from over mate, city will be dropping points between now and the end of the season you can put your life on it and this campaign is going to the wire..

@Mark
I’m also keen to see a review of salah before Ed releases his match review. Been following this site a long time now and just seems it’s a mirror copy of whatever the Ed’s say.
Dont always agree with some (ie Harry) but fair play for having an opinion!

I'm yet to read Eds review of the game because I'm still not home, but no mark it wasn't acceptable, it was to be quite honest a terrible performance, anybody with eyes could see that. We should've and could've done much better but we didn't, we move on.
