I’ve seen a lot of moaning and disappointment this morning about last nights result and I’m a bit confused. In my opinion we’re still in a very strong position and I still make us favourites to qualify. I think Bayern needed the away goal last night because they will be more open in the second leg and I really don’t think they’ll stop us from scoring, they barely managed it last night and we missed some guilt edged opportunities. If we score first in Munich, they will have to open right up because they’ll need 2 and we can pick them off on the counter attack! Not to mention we will have Van Dijk back for the 2nd leg and they will allow Fabinho to move back to midfield where he belongs, not taking anything away from his performance last night because, along with Henderson I thought he was our best player! So all in all I thought last night could and probably should have ended better, I still make us favourites to go through and everyone needs to stop panicking!

I think you are right that its not a bad result in making sure they don't have an away goal.
However it has to be disappointing when we missed the chances we missed and were so wasteful when we got forward.
That said I think most people would agree that it is unlikely we won't score over a two leg tie so there is confidence that if we do score away then we will have a big advantage.
I also agree that Fabinho was excellent last night.

I agree JK. I think BM will play right into our hands on the return match. Our counter will punish them in my opinion.

Totally agree.
Our team will be strengthened by VVD coming back and Fabinho moving back into midfield.
Fingers crossed we have a fit Gomez then too?
Also Kimmich is suspended which is a big loss for them.
Can't wait for the away leg.
I'll be there!

I think the moaning stems from the fact that Bayern at times were there for the taking, especially in transition and certain players just didn’t have it in them to either pull the trigger or make the right pass at the right time and it happened in both halves not just one. We were better than Bayern yesterday but based on our away record in Europe this season and Bayern’s Home form, it won’t be so straight forward. I don’t think it’s a good position to be in but it’s one where we can still prosper, a score draw and we go through. We just have to be realistic and say it’s advantage Bayern and it’s frustraiting because it shouldn’t be.

I am frustrated as well with the result and with some parts of the game where we seemed to want to rush things instead of letting things come to us naturally. Worst thing is that whenever we settled down and passed and moved the ball, Bayern were on the rack and had we scored during our strong periods, I think we put 3 past them. All in all, a draw is a fair result cos well, we did not do well to get the win.

Having said that, I think both teams know that this is still a 50/ 50 game. Why? The first rule in a home first leg of a European tie is, "If you can't win, DON'T CONCEDE" and we did not. Also and even tho I hate stats, in the lat 31 two-legged meetings in Euro comps where the home first leg ended in a 0-0 draw, the team that hosted the second leg only progressed 10 times. That is a damning stat for Bayern which means the 0-0 draw at Anfield is not really an advantage esp. vs a team that can score goals and hit you on the counter like LFC can. Looking forward to the 2nd leg.

Clean sheet at home without VVD is a positive result. I’d rather be in our position than Bayern’s they won’t feel comfortable unless they go 2 goals ahead.
