Competition is so tight right now, I have a horrible feeling that we will come second in the league this season on goal difference. Wouldn't that be the absolute worst case scenario? Can you imagine?

We are so close. We're so strong. If we don't win it this year, I'm confident that if we strengthen again over the summer, we will definitely have a great shot next season. The important thing will be to keep hold of Klopp. I'd love to see him build a dynasty and that's the kind of thing that's worth waiting for.

That dynasty won't be built if we keep loosing titles and cups on goal differences and silly performances.
By now, Klopp could have won a league cup, an europa league, a champions league and now he is in pole position for winning the a league. You cannot keep coming 2nd. This is the season to win it. Otherwise the media will definitely label us chokers and while i don't give jack about what the pundits have to say, it is an unnecessary badge to carry.
Also, We definitely have the team to win it this season. We need to support and make voice ourselves that we are desperate to win it. we have the most balanced first team any day in EPL.
I don't want to tag along with the sentiment if - not this year than next. Yes ofcourse we will continue to support till eternity and i don't care when we win it, but truthfully, it be bloody good if we win it this year and then build a dynasty based on this title win. I mean we are just 12 wins away. Get in LADS we can do this.

Mourinho won more in a similar period akrubbish. Stoneage is talking about consistently competing which is something we have done for decades.

Obviously meant "have not done in decades".

So if we win this year we won't be able to do it consistently for decades? what kind of logic is that?
Also mourinho won more yet got sacked from two clubs (different reasons though) . If Klopp doesn't win nothing say next year i am pretty sure the pressure would just go crazy on him. If you don't win much top players stop reacting to managers and look for better winning opportunities. It has always happened. Liverpool would not be able to hold players like salah mane firmino and van dyk if we keep building and don't win nothing.
Again we are in pole position to win and so we must not think for anything less.

Hold your nerve lads, 12 games to go 🤨.

We’ve only lost one game all season. We haven’t sold our best players and we’ve brought players in. Some of our younger players are doing well and we have a bigger stand too. The club is moving in the right direction title or no title.
City have gone up a gear and we are starting to see our key players return to fitness and let’s be honest our fixtures for the remaining games aren’t unreasonable. There is nothing but excited nerves from our fans to indicate we won’t take home the trophy. Keep your feet grounded lads!

akrubbish - we all want to twin the title this year. but some here are getting carried away as if we'll never have a chance again. And that is the point I think the OP was making is that the big picture is more relevant here. The club are actually moving in a direction they haven't been able to sustain for decades. Win or lose this season, that in itself is progress and incentive for top players to come to us. I think these guys can see the vision now and direction that FSG and Klopp are taking the club in.

I’m hoping for a dynasty too, stoneage.

I just hope we don’t fall at dallas-t fence. 🤞

I hate it when people go on about us not winning trophies then list the finals we’ve been in. The fact is under Klopp we have a good chance of winning trophies, the trick is to be able to compete in the competitions first then eventually the trophies will come.
We lost on penalties to City in the League cup, Moreno had a mare in the Europa League and Karius threw away the champions league. How is any of that just down to Klopp? He did his job by getting us there and then circumstances went against us.
The main thing as I said is to consistently compete, then the trophies will come. Getting rid of a manager that has proven he can compete with the very best would just set us back years. Regardless of whether we win it this year we have to keep Klopp.
I’d be a lot more worried if we weren’t getting to finals or were way behind in the league but we’re not. We have proven under Klopp that we are one of the best teams around we just need to keep the faith and stop whinging like spoiled brats because we’ve only got to the CL final but we didn’t win. 99.9% of football fans will never even see their team play in a CL final and we’ve been in 3 out of the last 13.
We are one of only a handful of teams that has a chance of winning the major trophies yet some are still not happy. I just don’t understand the thinking I really don’t.

I think that the easiest opportunity we have had to win the EPL title was in 2013/ 2014, but it was not meant to be. We have a clear opportunity now, but the situation and environment was completely different. 2013/ 14 was all about on-field performance, with management and everything else in a chaotic state full of missteps and mistakes. Even if we had won, no one would expected us to win the next year with Suarez gone and Rodgers and staff doing their usual thing (look at what happened with all the players they bought with the Suarez money? ) .

The situation now is completely different. Everything has been looked at from the ground up in terms of training facilities, stadium expansion, development of youth and investing in players with current ability and/ or future potential. Even the commercial side of the business is being run far better than it has been, and that has a massive effect on the which players you are able to put out on the pitch. What I am saying is that the environment to create a dynasty is better today than it ever has been for us in the EPL era.

Dynasty to me means 10 years. Not necessarily winning every title and trophy in sight. But at least dominating for that much time. Dominating and scaring the sh*t out of everyone every single weekend and mid-week. If Klopp wins titles for 2-3 years this will be known as the "Klopp years". If the team is able to win and dominate for as long as a decade then this will be known as the "Klopp Dynasty". Pretty much the same as Fergie, I would say.

The first title is ALWAYS the hardest one to win cos of the long drought that came before it. That is what this team is dealing with. We became a much better team the moment BR was sacked and Klopp walked in the door. That much is a fact. We built from the ground up with money yes, but with a true strategy behind the types of players being targeted not just for their talent BUT their mentality as human beings. We just have to get the monkey off our backs by winning the first title in 3 decades and hopefully this year will BE the year.

Whilst I agree with much of what you say here ak, if we don't win it I don't think it will be down to silly performances. I'm not sure we have the most balanced team in the league, even if we did, we need the strongest squad, not just starting 11.

If we lost to City on goal difference or by 1-3 points, we could still finish with a points total that would have seen us crowned winners in almost any other PL year. We can't control what City do, but we could end up looking back at the games we played against them this season: we got 1 point, they got 4.

That said, it's till in our hands. 12 wins or 11 and a draw and it's ours. Easier said than done though hey.
