Nice one Tris! Loved the one about the farting African Tennis player - maybe my tennis career has a chance of resurrection (well according to the missus, anyway! ) .

I've always suspected Carl Lewis - never sat right how he was able to compete at such a high level for so long across so many events. Just like Linford, although he probably went on a bit too long and testing techniques finally caught up with him. I just pray nothing ever comes out about Bolt - the sport would be even more in the mire then.

Thanks for these!

(P. S. minor typo - its Gasquet rather than Pasquet - I can't believe he got away with it and went on to have such a successful career! )

{Ed001's Note - Carl Lewis is one person I detest. It is not so much that he cheated, it is that he blatantly lies about it and continues to do so, even though he was caught and it was public information at the time. But of course it all got covered up, so the US can continue to claim it is all East European shot putters and Russians and other 'Commies' that do all the organised cheating. They are all as bad as each other. There are very few, if any, that have not cheated. The worst for me is the TUEs. If something is banned, then there should be no exception allowed to take it. If you can't compete without it, well then tough, you should just not compete.

Is it really Gasquet? I know nothing about tennis but I saw this story on a couple of international sporting sites, ESPN being one, and both had him down as Pasquet. One must have taken it from the other.}

Ed001, if my memory serves me correctly, didn't Kolo Toure once blamed grass for scoring ludicrous own goal?

{Ed001's Note - I don't know mate, was it the same grass that made him claim to be a used car salesman to get his end away?}

It is Gasquet And I had no idea about that story. As someone who gets drug tested often (albeit for different reasons) I have no idea how he got away with that, other than someone turned a blind eye. Cocaine metabolises so quickly that residue from copping off with some swamp donkey on a Saturday night would be pretty much zero.

{Ed001's Note - apologies for the error, I should really have checked, but I didn't think so many other sites had as little knowledge of tennis as I did!

As for getting away with it, he must have had the test at a bad time for tennis. They will have wanted to avoid bad publicity so swept it away under the carpet quick. If it was after cycling's scandals, they will have seen how the positive tests destroyed TV audiences and advertising/sponsorship revenue for the sport.}

Should be fixed now, thank you for spotting the error.

Hey Ed, wasn't it Johnson who stated (correctly) after that infamous 100m final, that the only person involved in that race that wasn't doped was the man pulling the trigger ;)

{Ed001's Note - I think you are right. And so was he.}

Since you brought up Carl Lewis, have you ever seen the video of him singing the national anthem before the Lakers game? Priceless.
