Hi Ed's, I know there are toxic fans in all the clubs. Recently I saw a worst tweet about Sala (Cardiff) from a Liverpool fan. Its just disgusting and bringing a bad reputation for fellow supporters.
But my real question is can the clubs and players take a time then and there to reiterate that banter is good but mocking on others short comings and being toxic is bad. There are more chance they will hear when their favourite players tell talk about this. Maybe I am wrong. But surely every club needs to address this issues. With internet availability, there people who gets affected easily and try to mock back that too on the saddest incident? . Clubs need to put some videos of players talking about this type of issues IMO.

{Ed002's Note - You are right that there are idiots supporting all clubs - I am not aware of any tweet but I am aware that more and more problems are reappearing with brawling and racist chanting. Apparentlt there have been complaints to the police about racist shouting, abuse or chanting at all but two Premier League clubs alone this season. One club has offered themselves to play a game behind closed doors in an effort to resolve this. Much of it has gone well beyond "banter" but the answer is not to carry it on by mocking the person back on the internet. I would not want to try and compare the unfortunate Sala situation to MUnich, or racism or anything else - but society should no what is acceptable and what is not.}

Am not sure if this would help but as ed1 talked about this morning. How a player can shout and call a ref every possible swearword without any card. Yet a player can get a one match ban for sarcastically clapping. Now what kind of example does that show to the fans watching. It just says I can shout what ever I want at a player. i don’t know if it would help but it might be a start!

Pretty sure this goes beyond football.

Clearly it does go beyond football but that does not mean that football clubs and supporters can escape responsibility for addressing it where they can.

Unfortunately, you will never ever eradicate all the bad stuff, no matter what you do. The human race is an inherently aggressive species and unfortunately, stupid in the main, easily led and often bored and frustrated.

Although most of the population can take on board what is acceptable, or at the very least control themselves, there will always be some idiots who can’t or don’t want to differentiate between right and wrong. There will come a time where football will only be able to do so much and the only way to stop the few remaining numpties is to ban them when caught. You just can’t teach some people and it’ll be a long time before this sort of thing gets to a level that society deems acceptable.

This is why I am not a fan off social media, people are sharing this when it shouldn’t see the light of day. It is just an idiot who thinks he is being funny when really he is being rather stupid. This surely just comes down to basic respect.

Other issue is people take this as all Liverpool fans (I saw a Man City fan group share this, saying this is why they hate us) think this way, often the minority tarnish the majority but how do you go about punishing this behaviour? They more then likely don’t attend games so can’t ban them from the ground, it’s why social media is so poisonous can put anything out there with little to no comeback.

Some of the comments on the BBC "have your say" pages are just appalling at times. Just don't understand how being opponents at competitive sport can generate so much hatred amongst people.

Willo, again it’s because they can say what they want with no punishment. So they can chuck out as much abuse as they want and it will have no impact on their every day lives.
I think the internet is a wonderful thing but I’m not sure humans were ready for it. also saw someone mention that abuse in grounds as increased, I don’t it has I just think it’s being reported again. Again it comes down to a mob mentality, if you are in a group you feel safer and less likely of consequences.

There are far too many humans on this planet and the only way some can get noticed is by being horrible to the rest of us. Some people didn't get the hugs they needed as a child!

{Ed0333's Note - I didn’t get any hugs as a child I really need to take that up with my parents.

Ed0333, you need to take a holiday and head for Japan for a week. They have services where buxom young ladies will lie down with you while in a hug position (fully clothed, so don't get any ideas), at an hourly rate. Why trouble your parents at their age? 😉.

{Ed0333's Note - ha ha. When I was last in Japan I didn’t see any buxom ladies giving out hugs but will be sure to look out for them on my next visit. In fact they don’t even have to be young or buxom I’m not fussy like that. But then again I’ve cuddled Eds 001 and he’s neither. Actually I retract that statement he’s plenty buxom.
