Great article Ed001. Agree with you fully on Firmino and Lacazette on being in there. Most in the case of Lacazette who seems vastly underrated and below everyone's radar (including his own manager's for some reason) .

{Ed001's Note - I really do not understand why Lacazette is not the first name on the Arsenal team sheet.}

No Suarez 001? I dislike like the man, but as player he is incredible. He's the only player in the last decade who I think was at one stage, genuinely close to the peak Ronaldo and Messi's level. He's not the player he was before his knee injury, but I'd still rate him top 10 I think. Hard to argue with your picks though so it's difficult on who drops out of the 10. Probably Cavani seeing as he's 10th anyway and by far the weakest on that list.

{Ed001's Note - it was between Cavani and Suarez for 10 and the fact Suarez has been way off his top level while Cavani has been banging in the goals despite half his team-mates not passing to him edged it for Cavani.}

In maybe a season or two from now, I'll expect a new name on that list -Krzysztof PiÄ…tek.
I also don't understand the Cavani issue. Despite his devotion to the team, he isn't as respected as he should be.

Fantastic article, Ed. I love these lists.
In what way is Cavani at war with his teammates? (I’m assuming you mean the unbelievably talented moron, Neymar)

{Ed001's Note - yes, he and Neymar detest each other on a personal level and a lot of the time Neymar (and his allies in the team such as Dani Alves) will avoid passing to Cavani if possible.}

Cavani is right though, Neymar is a retromingent gilfnard.

Hi ed001. Great article mate. Must say I am a fan of lacazette also. Was there genuine interest from ourselves before arsenal got him. I think he would of got tons of goals for us. Second question is with Salah now being classed as a striker and playing up top more regularly do you think we will not go for a striker in the summer and maybe go for someone to play either rw or lw if we switch mane over to the right.

{Ed001's Note - a long time ago there was interest from us. If I remember correctly it was before we signed Suarez. I agree though he would have been good for us.

More likely Klopp will continue to look at players who are capable of playing more than one role, such as Mane, Salah and Keita. Hence the interest in Werner, who can play the wide roles too. It will be that kind of player Klopp looks for.}

Great read that eds.
is there anything to like about Neymar! Can’t stand the bloke.

{Ed001's Note - I am sure there must be something, I just can't think of anything! Not one single thing comes to mind.}

Lacazette is a proper finisher, in the mould of Van Persie or Van Nistelrooy, in that he can pull out impossible goals in the tightest of situations, his composure is frightening.

I’m surprised you missed out VVD, Ed001.

Ask any Saints fan and I’m sure they’d rank him in their top 10 ‘strikers’!

😉😂😂.

{Ed001's Note - fair point, Coutinho would get in that list as well.}

Great list as I can't argue with any of your choices. I do remember Cavani being a beast of a CF at Napoli before he (stupidly, IMO) went to PSG. As for Lacazette, I was not too sure about him at Lyon cos he scores goals yes, BUT a lot of them were penalties and went one season without scoring a single goal vs the top 7 in France's Ligue 1 that season.

That said, he has improved immensely now to becoming a CF with gret movement, pace, power and precision to the point where he seems capable of scoring from near anywhere in the final third, even if it is a tight angle. Aubameyang is not in Lacazette's league when it comes down to being a true goalscorer. As for Icardi, he stole the wife of fellow Argentinian Maxi Lopez, which at the time was a HUGE scandal in Italy. Days Of Our Lives type stuff, man.

{Ed001's Note - that wife, Wanda Nara, is now Icardi's agent and the biggest pain in the arse in football. She is the reason he is still at Inter because no one can deal with her.}

Thanks ed I enjoyed reading that. It's nice to see two Liverpool players in the list and can't disagree with anything you have said.
Do you think Salah is better up front? I prefer him cutting in from the wide areas and thought the runs he makes are better suited for a RW. With firming being one of best in the world does it not make sense to play the guys in their natural positions? Understand were playing a more measured style of football now but our 433 last season was outstanding with our front 3 on form.

{Ed001's Note - I prefer him on the right as well but the team has picked up better results with him up front, so why change it?}

I would still take Suarez over most in that list tbh. His all round game is still the best for any CF in the world.

{Ed001's Note - it's not though. I would take Firmino over him every day. Aguero works much harder. Salah and Kane score many more goals in a much more competitive league. Suarez is a shadow of the player he was, his knees are a mess and he is only going to get worse from now until he retires.}

IB, Ed is right here. Suarez is finished. Forget his time here cos he was younger and hungrier. I watch Suarez at Barcelona and frankly, he is on the decline and fast. He is NOTHING like Bobbie or Sergio. None whatsoever. Bobbie and Sergio all day over him.

Cheers Ed001, great read. Its really amazing how different this list would have been a year ago or even the year before that. Injuries, psychology, changes in position. Suarez and Higuain are noticeable but understandable admissions, given their seasons and form. I like Mbappe at striker but he has definitely been a winger this season.

Wasn't aware you rated Rashford that highly, has he really been that good of late? will have to check out more of their games.

{Ed001's Note - I really do like Rashford as a player, he has excellent potential, but he was so stifled by Mourinho that he was simply unable to perform. Since Jose went, Rashford has been outstanding.

And thank you mate, glad you enjoyed.}

Great read that Ed, as always. Would be interested to know the ones who you said missed out on the top 10? You mentioned Suarez, Rashford. Also any young ‘uns up and coming you feel?

{Ed001's Note - not really many young ones close in, there is only really Piatek who has stood out this season, but he was nowhere before. So it is a bit soon for him to even get on the edges.}
