Ed001 regarding Gomez who has showing he is a very good centre half but is injury prone

What do you do with a player like that who's quality is enough to start and build a partnership with but he is unreliable as he seems to get a lot of bad injuries.

{Ed001's Note - how is he injury prone? He is growing, youngsters often pick up injuries due to that. It is only once he finishes growing we will know if there is actually any genuine long term problems to be protected.}

Look at Gerrard when he first broke in to the team. He couldn't play 2 games in a week and questions were asked if his body was up to the demands playing in the premiere league puts on players.

Spot on, Ed. I for the life of me, do not know where people get this "Gomez is injury prone" stuff from. Beggars belief really. It is normal for young players to pick up injuries as they grow into their bodies. I remember Ronaldo9 picking up injuries as an 18 yr old at PSV and at Barcelona due to his physique and his style of play (pace, power, dribbling acceleration etc) and I never heard people call him injury-prone at that age, younger than Gomez. I wonder why?

If someone suffers a broken leg in a challenge can we count that towards being ‘injury prone’? I would just call it ‘sh*t happens’ personally.

In my mind, he has only really had 1 major injury before this and 1 more minor one that kept him out towards end of last season - at a time when he wasn’t a guaranteed starter. I

Maybe my memory serves me incorrect, but I think this injury prone narrative people throw about with Gomez is pretty unfair. I feel like people are confusing when he was in the reserves and suffering poor form so not breaking through as him simply being injured.

Again though, I could be wrong! Feel free to correct me.

MrSox87, not only is it unfair. It is unfounded and has NO basis in reality.
