What do the eds make of Jaap Stam basically confirming that ‘Sir’ Alex tapped him up to get him to move to Manutd from PSV after he’d just signed a new contract?
He also goes on to say ‘everyone knows it happens in football’ yet it seems some managers get more stick for it than others.
I’m not trying to excuse Klopp’s behaviour I’m just asking is his behaviour that different to every other manager throughout history? Even the knighted blokes were doing it it would seem.

{Ed025's Note - two wrongs have never made a right bobby, dont try and justify the wrongdoings of klopp mate..

That’s what I’m saying Ed it’s a hell of a lot more than just 2 wrongs.
Perhaps I am trying to justify Klopp’s actions because I support the team he manages but even you have to admit the bad press he’s had has been grossly unfair when everyone else is doing exactly the same thing and has been since football began.
It seems we slate Klopp for doing what every other manager is doing (talking to players who are interested in talking to him) yet praise Bielsa for sneaking around watching other people’s training sessions without their knowledge.
It just doesn’t seem right to me mate.

{Ed025's Note - it does go on bobby thats for sure, being top of the tree does not help either mate..

Do you actually care Ed025? I don't. It went on for so long with Coutinho that I just accepted it as much ado over nothing. Did it matter how Coutinho found out Barcelona wanted him?

Either Barcelona inform Liverpool and we inform Coutinho. Or they send an agent after his agent who then tells him. Or Neymar begs him at every I international break. Or their manager meets him for lunch in Blacklool? Which ones are legal? Does it matter how he found out? I used to think it was terrible. Now I just can't see the point in even making it against the rules if I'm honest. What does anyone gain from it?

Everton unsettled Marco Silva at Watford and I'm pretty sure your team followed all the rules when they approached him. Do you think Watford care that Everton went through the correct channels? Did it actually make a blind bit of difference?

{Ed025's Note - we have to have rules MK or chaos ensues, i get what your saying mate but you cant justify cheating..

Yeah perhaps you’re right mate. Have a good Sunday fella.

{Ed025's Note - you too mate..

I guess Ed025. I just don't think the rules work. The answer is probably to enforce them better, make more rules to cover all bases, and ban agents from football. That'll never happen though so I guess we'll just have to prepare for Firmino getting tapped up by Coutinho for the next few years 😂.

{Ed025's Note - its far from perfect MK, but the banning of agents would work for me mate..

I’m pretty sure Everton didn’t go through the correct channels MK. If they had they would’ve asked Watford, they say no and that’s it. End of.
As it was their pursuit of Silva ruined Watford’s season which is exactly what the rules are in place to avoid.
Like you say mate is it really that bad anyway? There’s so many ways to contact people these days it’s impossible to police unless someone complains. Even then it’s got to be difficult to prove.
Jaap Stam tried to cover his tracks by saying Fergie just phoned him to tell him he’s a great player and he’d be great in his team. Like that’s not tapping him up?
I suppose that was my initial point, why does Klopp get such a hammering for it when it’s commonplace throughout football.
I’d imagine at the top level there’s more that do speak to other team’s players than those that don’t. You’re at a significant disadvantage if you don’t.

{Ed025's Note - im proposing giving silva back to watford bobby...that would teach them not to moan.. :)

I hear that Ed! 🙈 Not working out to well for him is it?
I must admit I had doubts about him after what he did to Watford. Shocking to down tools like that. Especially for a manager, he let the whole team and club down big time.
Where do you see it going from here?

{Ed025's Note - i expect he will be in charge for the rest of the season and then have his position re-evaluated mate..

Football is like governments. Corrupt to the core. Blind eyes will always be turned for the bigger more important ones and rules will be bent to suite the needs. It’s the world we live in. That’s not me justifying it. Just pointing out that us mere normal people have no power or voice to change anything. We are the puppets.

Not a fan of Silva Ed?

{Ed025's Note - i like his philosophy smp, but up to now his implementing of it leaves a lot to be desired mate..

I can’t see them being too happy with the progress this season though after spending all of that money.
I’m your view should your current squad be doing better? Or do you think the players just aren’t as good as you thought?

JK that’s a bit deep for a Sunday morning! 100% correct but a bit much for me in my hungover state! 😂.

{Ed025's Note - not as good as we first thought bobby, and that goes for the manager as well mate..

Everyone slates Klopp for tapping up bit Fergie was equally as guilty, no mention of that.

Staam is the start of a list of players, just for starters you have Van Nistollroy, he tried to tap up Viera, Tony Adams, joe Cole when he was a youngster.

{Ed025's Note - as i said before drogie..2 wrongs dont make a right mate..

11.) 27 Jan 2019
27 Jan 2019 12:34:12
Klopp took it a few steps too far. I feel though if he hadn't gone to such lengths VVD would be playing elsewhere.

Let's hope he won't do it again.

I see Valverde is also calling out Guardiola for tapping up De Jong after De Jong himself confirmed he had met Guardiola and he tried to convince him to join City.
That Cafe in Blackpool must be doing a roaring trade!

Totally agree 25 mate but no one mentions old whiskey nose. that’s my point.

Not a good result yesterday pal. Didn’t see the games, was too busy downing pints of bass in a lovely boxer just outside of cardiff.

{Ed025's Note - everton are driving me to drink drogie mate..

27 Jan 2019 12:16:49
Ed025, do you miss Allardyce yet? 😂.

{Ed025's Note - yeah MK, like george michael missed andrew ridgely mate..

15.) 27 Jan 2019
27 Jan 2019 12:31:48
Ed025, I think your main issue this season is the lack of a striker. The other 10 players seem OK. But there's no-one making the run into the box or dragging centrebacks around. If you can get a proper striker before the end of January, the season may still be salvageable.

{Ed025's Note - believe me realtofel its not just the lack of a striker mate..

16.) 27 Jan 2019
27 Jan 2019 15:51:44
Tapping up is illegal, end of story. It does not matter if "Everybody does it" (which is false cos NOT everybody does it), it is still illegal. Everybody doing something wrong does not and should NEVER make doing that thing right.

RedWolf, sitting on that high horse has made you a bit giddy mate. Once again, I will quote Graeme Souness on Sky Sports last season : “There has never been, and never will be, a transfer which does not involve tapping up. ” It seems to me to be a pointless rule, ignored by virtually everyone at the top level, and when someone like Klopp is caught out breaking the rules those with an agenda against him will make a huge fuss while ignoring the transgressions of others like Guardiola. Liverpool have been victims of tapping up as well as perpetrators and I tend not to get worked up either way.

{Ed002's Note - So you be OK if Salah went on strike for 6 months because of it?}

19.) 28 Jan 2019
27 Jan 2019 20:34:55
Ed02, Coutinho did it to us and left us, VVD did it to Southampton and joined us. Life and Liverpool FC goes on and would do if Salah downed tools to get a move. If you can explain to me why the ‘no tapping up’ rule is so important I would be very grateful.

{Ed002's Note - It is completely disruptive to players and clubs.}
