After yesterdays 2 goals for Salah he is the 4th fastest PL player to reach 50 goals having played only 72 games (48 goals for liverpool, 2 goals at Chelsea) . His stats line up exactly with Fernando Torres first 50 PL goals. Question is, who would you prefer to have in your team? It would be interesting to hear Ed1 opinion on this, which player was more technically gifted or the better eye for goal etc. For me it has to be Torres, he was a sensation when he first joined. It was sad to see his decline so fast. Any opinions fellow reds?

{Ed001's Note - there is no contest. Salah scored a large number of his goals from the wing, yet still scored at the same rate as Torres. He also offers flexibility. Technically there is little between them, but Salah has a slight edge in almost every area.}

Very hard comparison as they've played in different teams with different players and different systems. For a couple of years, Torres was irresistible feeding off Gerrards crosses and technically superb. Mo, however, has flourished under Klopp with the likes of Mane and Firmino around him. Probably best to make the comparison once their careers have finished but Torres slightly shades it for me before he lost his pace.

Also important to note that the only reason they got to 50 in the same time was Salah' s Chelsea spell of 2 in 13 games. For Liverpool he has 48 in 59 which is frightening and quicker than Torres.

Im with Ed. Salah have quite some assists as well if Im not mistaken.

But Ed01, In my Opinion Salah doesn't have that Silky first touch which made Torres's style of play and finishing classy. Don't get me wrong I like Salah a lot, I think his main attribute is his 6th sense to be in the right position at the right time.

{Ed001's Note - I think people are looking back at Torres all misty-eyed and forgetting what he was actually like. He was about lightning acceleration and strength. He may have looked more silky but that is just about looks, not actual ability. His skill was in getting the ball out of his feet quickly and hitting it early with a lot of power. In other words power and pace not finesse was Torres' main attributes. He did not have the ability to twist and turn in tight spaces like Salah can, because his touch was not as good as Salah's, he could not keep it tight to his feet and work magic the way Salah does.}

48 in 59 is extraordinary.
For that remarkable statistic alone, it has to be Salah, though I agree with 01’s reasoning too.

Thanks for the reply ed1 and everyone else. Very interesting to see the comparison. I didn't realize he has 48 in 59 also. that's absolutely nuts.

{Ed001's Note - welcome mate, and yes, his numbers for us are incredible, especially as he has played so many games on the wing for us.}

Can we just agree to have both in our dream team? Plus Stevie and Alonso maybe? 😇.

One thing about Salah is he stays fit!

The only injury i can remember of his time with us so far is the dislocated shoulder. Apart from that, there has been no niggles or knocks i can think of.

salah for me, it doesn't change the fact that torres was good though, salah's record with us will beat so many records even in other clubs if he was in any other club, he's simply magnificent.

{Ed025's Note - great player kaizer...pity about the diving though..

Salah all day, man. 48 in 59 is in-freaking-sane numbers for 1 and a half seasons. Torres never matched those numbers esp. if you judge by the fact that Salah scored majority of his goals for the wing. Salah is the better player, all-round BUT I will say that Torres was boss as well cos he scored near ALL his goals from open play. No penalties and No free kicks. That is just as frightening cos we know CR7 scored near half his goals in the PL with penalties and free kicks. Great player and if we win the PL, he will be a KEY reason why.

As for the diving, he should stop doing that for sure BUT I think too much is being made of it really. Salah gets no credit for staying on his feet when challenged and the same media moaners say he should have gone down cos there was contact. Then, when he does go down with clear contact and a clear foul, they say he should have stayed on his feet and not dived or gone down easily. Again, MAKE UP YOUR MINDS!

The penalty vs Newcastle was a penalty cos it was reviewed and confirmed so non story there. The pens vs BHA and Arsenal were also correctly awarded. The flop vs Palace was him going down easily on the first challenge which to me, is not a dive. The only dive I saw vs Palace was from you guessed it, Zaha when he went down from a non challenge from Milner BUT hey, we know he is a serial diver so why bother talking about it?

{Ed025's Note - talking of serial divers...salah is extremely talented as is tom daley..

But does it count that I loved torres as i was younger and more emotional back then and him leave in the way he did made sure I could not love a player the same way again?

Hope you haven't jinxed it lamborini!

Ed25, you prolly want to go find out what diving actually means. Diving means lunging forward. Never seen Tom Daley fall backwards like Salah did but I guess you have, lol. Seriously tho, Salah went down too easily and needs to quit that, ASAP. That said, All the three pen incidents were clear penalties and awarded as such even the one vs Newcastle was reviewed after the fact and confirmed BUT I guess that fact was missing in your response. I wonder why, lol?

If you are looking for divers in that game, Zaha is the ONLY one who dived blatantly with NO contact from Milner. And if you are looking for serial divers, you can always look up legends like Ali, Lamela Kane (so many from one club, really? ), Zaha, Vardy (esp. ) and Hazard (who dived again vs Arsenal BUT no one mentioned it) . Cheers, man.

{Ed025's Note - i know what diving is brover...its CHEATING, there are loads of divers in the game and they are ruining the sport, salah is not the only one and the likes of zaha and even richarlison as well are bringing the game into disrepute and thats just naming three, they are falling over repeatedly to gain an unfair advantage and its actually practiced in training so a couple of pro,s i know tell me, its a very sad state of affairs and until the bungling neer do wells at the FA get a grip of it then it will continue to be a blight on this great game mate..

Whiich team would most likely win out of Rafa’s class of 2008 with Salah leading the line, or the current first eleven with Torres up front? Im a complete fence-sitter with this.

Come on Ed025 Salah isn’t the only one mate to go down easy. You’ve been a bit quite on here of late mate not surprising with the form of your lot 😂. Can always count on you chirping up though to stick the knife in to us given any opportunity. How you been mate? What’s your verdict on your lads?

{Ed025's Note - my verdict on us virgil is that we are bloody awful mate, a bunch of under performing prima donnas if ever there was one, i replied to brover before that said he was not the only diver around, there are loads of them and its ruining the game as far as im concerned..

Ed25, I love the passion in your response and you are correct, on al accounts. Flopping or diving or whatever you want to call it, is cheating and the fact that it is coached by managers in training is the most pathetic of all. I remember Poch last season when Diver Alli, lamela and Harry Klaim, were on a diving tear, he defended them blatantly, saying it was okay if they needed to dive, they should and if I'm not mistaken, he said players are coached on it during training in South America hence, what's the prob? This is the kind of nonsense we are dealing with, my friend.

My issue here is that the media and pundits seem to want to pick on some and protect others based on the day of the week it is. On MOTD, Shearer made it a point to slate Salah for diving YET they conveniently avoided mentioning Zaha who blatantly dived in the same game. Same with last season. Mane got clipped at palace and cos he did not go down fast enuff or the "experts", they said he dived. Now when Kane dived at Anfield, the same Shearer sad that "If Kane felt the contact, he has a right to come down". See what I mean?

So according to this poor excuse for an expert, Kane has the "right" to go down upon contact BUT Mane and Salah don't? This is my problem. If you are going to call it out CALL IT OUT ON ALL FRONTS. Don't pick and choose when to do it to fit your narrative or move the goalposts, redefining diving when it suits you. I am super glad you are doing it ED25 and pls, keep doing it.

{Ed025's Note - one thing i will add redwolf is that when you are top of the tree (like liverpool are) pundits and the media will always look to scrutinize every move you make and look for flaws, its part of being the top dog im afraid mate....and of course i will try and help them as much as possible.. :)

Ed25, you are right that when you are on top, people are coming for you and I can respect that. One thing tho. I do not recall all this nonsense happening all last season when City where ruling the roost. I even read once that Pep should not be slated that mjuch otherwise he would take his toys and go home. See the hypocrisy.

All I heard and read, was how City were the best thing English footie had ever seen and how Pep was revolutionalizing the game, even when he was getting his arse handed to him by Klopp, they always found a way to make it look like he and City were poor and all that, making all types of excuses for him.

Apart from that, you are dead on. Also, You are free to help them out BUT the diff. btw them and you is that I can't come after them directly if I think they are OTT hence will not feel my full fury. You on the other hand, are a sitting duck. Peace and Love, my friend.

{Ed025's Note - love it mate..
