With the markovic situation if no one is interested in buying him surely we should be just making an agreement for him to leave early?

I think no one is interested in buying him 'at the price we've set'. It is for the good of both the club and the player that we let him leave (maybe for a fee, but a reasonable one) but it's not exactly our MO to actually do the right thing most of the time.

Why put an asking price on him? Just let the poor bugger go, let's be honest, we've wasted too much of his career as it is. He deserves to move on ASAP. How can/ will anybody pay good money for him when he's done literally bugger all!

Salah- We may have been the major contributor to his career going stale but didn’t he refuse moves out the club so he could keep cashing in his inflated wages here?

Cobra, it's believed it was the other way around. Liverpool set the asking price too high and priced the interested clubs out of a move for him.

yeah don't get how the club has wasted too much of his career. He has had 4 loans and done nothing at any of them but carried on getting about £50k a week my be he has wasted the 5 years at the club but my be he is just happy to get the money. He is a grown man and if he wants to improve it is down to him to put the work in. It is not all ways down to the clubs these players get to much money to fast.

{Ed002's Note - It is a lot more than that.}

How have we wasted his career? He had the chance to move on in the summer and refused.

You all have to realize how poorly we've managed him down the years.

One thing is that the lad moved way too early, but I guess that's a seemingly common thing in football nowadays. Either way, we bought him without having any plan at all for him - pretty sure we even played him as a wing back (out of position) a lot, but I may be wrong on that one. He was never given a proper chance to really do anything at Liverpool.

After that follows all his loan spells, and while he hasn't shown a lot, we have to understand that he's still a young lad and that he's basically been thrown around from club to club (FOUR different ones in FOUR years), been "mistreated" at our own club and just basically hasn't gotten any chance to really improve or do anything for himself over the years. There's never been a plan with the loan spells, maybe besides getting his price to rise a bit. Nothing about all this really screams morale or confidence boost.

Besides he's pretty much been forced out of a move on several occasions, as the club has set the asking price way too high each and every time. At least that's how I've come to understand it.

In conclusion we've done absolutely nothing to help him with his career, and given all the circumstances I can fully understand why his development has stalled as it has. We need to let him go and let him rebuild his career elsewhere - something that is long overdue.

My heart bleeds Chimi. grown men have to help themselves. He's had enough chances at different clubs by now, or have they all wasted his career as well?

I really don't buy in to the he moved to early stuff to be honest.
I won't say that liverpool have been faultless in the handling of the lad, however when he was purchased if the lad wasn't ready to play, which he wasn't, and didn't really then how on earth would training with better players in a top premier league hinder his progress.
He has had loan moves, players have loans all the time, millions. some work some don't. if Marko was all that good and had the head to push on and realise his ability, in my opinion he would have made it at liverpool.
Absolutely no bad feeling towards the player in any way I hope he has a fantastic career.
Blaming liverpool for ruining this players career Is garbage in my opinion.

Bang on Naby. He was given a chance that any of us would die for and he’s done absolutely nothing with it. Surely he has to take responsibility for coming to Liverpool and not working hard enough to be in 2 different managers plans?
We owe him nothing he’s taken a hefty wage from us for 5 years and given us nothing in return.

Naby, there's way more to it than him just sticking up for himself and BEING A PROPER MAN, but you don't seem to grasp that.

Lazar was what, 19? when he joined us. Even if that "qualifies" as being grown up, I would say that Liverpool as a club is held responsible for way more than he himself is at such an age. We bought him with no plans whatsoever for him. From 2014 till now, our club has mistreated him in lots of ways - that's A LOT of uncertainty from a young guys' point of view.

Should he have been able to do more on his loan spells with the ability he has? Perhaps. But with the way Liverpool have handled this, I'm in no way surprised that his development has stalled and that he might have lost interest in the game, might have lost huge amounts of confidence, might have not fitted the different clubs his been at or whatever might have happened. There could be a lot of things to it. Moving to a new country/ club four times (five if we count Liverpool as well) in 3-4 years can't be easy for a young guy. Not everyone has the mentality to being moved around like that. To this date the clubs holds way more responsibility than Lazar himself does, close to most of it. Instead of permanently letting him go to another club, we've held him back with loan spells that clearly haven't worked out.

Besides all of this shouldn't really be a surprise, as we've done it with a lot of players. It's not a new thing that we're screwing a lot of players' careers up.

I'm also surprised at how few people take all these details into consideration before making stupid and illogical comments like that of yours Naby.

It seems pretty clear a few of you have simply no idea what you're talking about in regards to Markovic. Spot on Chimi.

13.) 17 Jan 2019
17 Jan 2019 22:52:15
At some point the player has to take responsibility for his own career, Markovic has never looked good enough for Liverpool or suited for the premier league. He has had loans away from the club and has rarely impressed. Liverpool may have made some mistakes early with him but the rest is down to Markovic.

{Ed002's Note - Someone else’s fault - should have realised.}

14.) 17 Jan 2019
17 Jan 2019 23:24:54
Correct, Markovic is responsible for Markovic’s career!

{Ed002's Note - Really, the club have priced him out of moves and pretty much wrecked his career. If they can screw with players they do - Jay Spearing is another. A player that the club took action to stop him playing for Bolton - no doubt Spearing’s fault.}

15.) 18 Jan 2019

Spearing went on loan to Bolton and he impressed them enough that they bought him. He was given an opportunity and he took it.
Markovic has had multiple loans and none of those clubs were sufficiently impressed to buy him. He had opportunities and hasn’t taken them.
