I've just read that Liverpool are keen to sign James Forrest of Celtic for £8m. I have literally never seen him play, so I'm asking anyone who has, do you think he's even good enough for Liverpool?

When you consider how well he's done, the big question is, why only 8 million? I really don't know enough about him but his stats are very impressive. I've seen him play a few times but can't really comment because I can't say I took too much notice of him specifically.

Not a bad week player at times other times he goes missing and the game passes him bye. wouldn't be a great move for him or us.

James Forrest would only be a back up for either Salah or Manè during injuries or rests . The boy has certainly improved under Rodgers that's for sure 3 years ago most Celtic fans only had criticism and disdain for him but he's turned that around . One Celtic fan at work today said "£8M try £18M and you can have him" . Personally I'd be surprised if we went for him but who knows.

I’d rather us not sign Scottish players for 8 million, it never ends up going well.

{Ed025's Note - love it KK..

I wouldn't have thought he was up to playing for Liverpool, although he has dramatically improved over the last season and a half. I'd save the money and play Kent as backup, both are having good seasons in the same league.

Haha, so many down votes. I was only posting what I'd read and asking others what they thought.

It is obvious that it wouldn't be to replace anybody and only to be cover, but after watching the Wolves FA Cup games, it strikes me that we need to be very clever in our recruitment of 2nd string/ fringe players. From what I've read about him, and if he's happy to be backup, it sounds like a good use of £8m.

They are both very young so that adds to their value. They have both played in the top competitions and are first choice for one of the best teams in the world.

Doesn't surprise me that they are highly valued.
