Not posted for ages but This centre back chat is frustrating.
The questions shouldn't be which teams do Lovren and Matip get in. They're 3rd and 4th choice these days.
The question should therefore be which clubs do they get in as 3rd and 4th choice.
The other point would be would Koulibaly, De Ligt etc be happy playing back up to Gomez and Vvd. Unlikely.
We've got the best cb pairing in the prem and 2 of the best back-Ups plus Fabinho.
Any whining re this CB situ is just whining for whinings sake.

Agreed. I would take our back up centre backs over Bayern, Madrid and Barce's any day.

Maybe replace Matip if it makes financial sense to and we can find the right deal, the guy is injury prone. Not a priority for the transfer bods though.

IMO, Lovs and Matip can start at Arsenal and Utd. easily as all their CB's would not make the stands at LFC. Also, Lovs is a CL and WC finalist so if you want to sell him, you aren't going to get him at 25m. You're going to have to cough up 40-45m for him. Matip would get a more than decent fee as well.

As for Khoulibaly, he is miles ahead of 3 of our 4 CB's bar VVD (those who think he is inferior to Gomez are delusional) hands down so why would he come here on a huge fee and huge wages to sit on the bench for another CB who is inferior to him> De Ligt? Don't know much about him BUGT he is very highly rated s the same applies to him.

Our boys are no slouches. We have 4 very capable CB's at our club and we should be proud of that. Now, since both are injury-prone, a decision may have to be done based on this notion, and not due to their capabilities on the pitch. Just my opinion.

I’d say Lovren is better than Stones at City as well. He is awful but just doesn’t get exposed enough.

I’m not convinced we could even convince Palace (who have us 30 million for Sakho) to pay 40 million for Lovren.

I think one of the biggest issues with Matip is that because we signed him on a free transfer, his wages are high.

Otherwise, I've no problems with our 3rd and 4th choice CBs apart from the fact that they're so good, it limits chances for defenders from the academy.
