Just been looking at player profiles for Masterson, Philips and Juanma. All very viable options to cover a couple of games whilst we await Gomez, Matip &Lovren to return. No need to drop Fabinho into defence for me as he is needed in midfield.

Thoughts please?

I agree fab needs to stay in midfield. We took a punt on Gome at the start of the season because Matip and Lovren were injured and he became number 1 choice. I say punt lightly as we saw him a lot at rb not cb. Another kid but with our strongest 11, could prove worth while.

I believe Phillips is injured and I have never seen the other 2 play so I will trust the managers decision on who should play in central defence.

Personally I'd like to see Masterson given a go. I also agree, Fabinho should stop in midfield. If Masterson does well enough then we've got another good option, he deserves a chance as well as the rest.

Brighton away in a must win is not a match for a kid to be “given a go” imo.
Fabinho at CB with Van Dijk, there’s midfielders galore in the squad.

TJ I get what you mean but
1) we will never know if they can make the cut if never given the chance.
2) it’s precisely times like these that the more ready youngsters should come in.
3) I think it was KK was send on 2 young FBs against Arsenal in Jon Flanagan and Jack Robinson as injuries forced his hand. I believe both did well in that game and Jon went on to become a really Good FB for us in a season before injuries and poor choices saw him slide down.
4) ever game in the season is important, so when will they ever have a chance?

Ordinarily, Salah mate, I would agree with you.
But we have effectively got 17 x cup finals left in the PL.
We need the strongest possible XI out in each game, and now is not the time to be experimenting with youngsters.
One or two may make the match day squad, good experience to be around that, but not to start.
I hope the players confidence hasn’t been dented by the two losses, although I must admit I’m constantly looking at the league table now lol.

Juicer - I would say the strongest possible 11 would be square pegs in square holes, not shunting players out of position because we think they could handle the role, I. e Fabinho. No point having these kids around who are about 20 if we aren't giving them game time when injuries strike.

There looks like there is a good player in Juanma but everytime he starts to show it, he gets injured. Masterson has a nice pass but he seems to go walkabout to much for me. Neither of them look ready for me. Nat Phillips has big raps but has suffered injuries too and so haven't seen enough of him to know.
