Was Philips injured last night? If not, then I’d love to know the reason why we would play a kid (albeit a future superstar in the making) against a full strength Wolves team if we won’t risk him on Sat?
Surely we should be playing the players that actually would have to stand in, given a problem / injury?

Same goes for players that won’t be here next season. What’s the point? What have we learned? Moreno, Studge and Origi - all with contracts expiring very very soon and won’t be here next year? May as well have given a LB a run that may actually stand a chance of stepping up next season.
Love Klopp but weird decisions in these cup matches sometimes.?

I believe that Phillips is injured, as is Gomez, Matip and now Lovren, that is why Hoever played yesterday.
Klopp see's the players every day in training and decided that Moreno was the best available left back that we had. It's not difficult to understand.
I saw people on here yesterday slamming the young players for not being good enough, in hindsight Klopp probably shouldn't have played any of the young players as the Liverpool supporters aren't prepared to back their players after a narrow defeat to a full strength Wolves team.

The young players are blameless for the Wolves defeat, the real problem was the experienced professionals who played last night were not good enough and a few of them were dreadful.
When the 1st team is rested the drop in quality is massive, so changing almost the whole team last night gave Liverpool the result they deserved against a decent Wolves side.
We simply do not have a good enough squad to be in all competitions and some of those players need to be moved on.
I am not saying that because of this defeat but a few of our players have been playing at that level for a long time.
But as Ron Keague said in his post, the likes of Sturridge, Origi and Moreno virtually never play and are then thrown on the pitch together and turn in a poor performance as they are not match ready.

People moan about the drop in quality yet when a decent player is mentioned for the front three on here whoever posted is hit with a load of sarcastic answers like "why would he come to be back up to Mo, Sadio and Bobby". the fact is we need AT LEAST 18 top players not 11 for a long season. The squad we have is doing a great job but the more top players we have the further we would go into each competition which in turn would make sure everyone got enough game time.

Hoever was not the problem in that back four. At times he looked the most confident of the cbs. I say that because fab doesn't play their. If the two cbs had had the fbs next to them wolves would not have scored their first. We would have took the lead and gone on to win.

The worry is his size. He is simply too small, but on the ball he showed major confidence. There were times, in our own half, deep on our own half and hoever didn't panic. Instead he wrong foots one player, dips the wee and skins another before pinging an inch perfect pass up the field. There was little flicks behind him (and the oncoming attacker) , beats the opposition player to the ball and pings one forward to the boys up front.

Sadly, the boys up front were effing ise less. DS is an absolute Colin. What's he on? £130.00 a year. No that a week isn't it. I would release him, eff him. If that's how he is going to play I totally see why klopp doesn't pick him.

So, that leaves origi and sturridge to cover for the three musketeers. That doesn't give me a warm feeling, vit freaks me out. There is still a lot of January left. We need another striker or attacking midfielder (which is what our players up front are really eh, AMs) loop

I went right off sturridge last night. Last season I would have been gutted if we sold him. Scored some great goals, done plenty of physio therapy.
