Was reading BBC Live reactions to the game yesterday from the public, plus some of my mates, majority of them would prefer City or Spurs to win the league than Liverpool. It isn't because of the team, the place, the manager, or the players, but the majority of Liverpool fans.

That tells a lot.

Because we make the most noise.

No, LiverpoolFC8. It is because a week ago everyone was saying we had won the league.

Not to mention that in 13/ 14 people started printing 'champions' shirts with about 5 games to go.

A small minority of Liverpool fans are embarrassing but they stand out more than the level headed fans. Hence the "It's our year" jokes we have to put up with. That is why nobody wants us to win. The image portrayed is that we'd have no class in victory.

Who cares what a rival fan has to say, exactly? I know I don't and NEVER will.

Yeah, there seems to be more of us active on social media and the internet in general. Because pretty much every supporter of big clubs that have a platform on YouTube despise Liverpool and always complain about getting abuse from Liverpool fans as if they get nothing else from fans of other clubs. I’m guessing ED02 is victim to the same thing. The only set of fans that seem to be remotely at peace with us are arsenal fans.

I think it also has something to do with us making a lot of noise without any real substance in the last decade. People see us as a big name but a has been that’s only recently started to show up again but we’ve never really stopped talking and that irks a lot of United, Chelsea and spurs fans. It’s the same reason I hate spurs almost as much as united, they have a one way rivalry with us because they think we think we’re better than them even though they’ve finished above us more often than not. Yet they have even less to show for it than us but talk as if they’re bigger than us. It’s all very complicated and petty but one thing is certain, an overwhelming majority of neutral fans want us to bottle it to city or spurs for sure. I mean look at the reaction to yesterday, apparently we’ve effectively lost the league after losing our first game of the season, away to the best team in the league by a very tight margin and still 4 points ahead. Some have even gone so far as to call it bottling which I find particularly amusing, they never mentioned city bottling it when they lost back to back games against Chelsea, palace and Leicester but as soon as it’s us, you can bet your bottom dollar we’ve ‘bottled it’. That being said if we end up not winning the league then yes, I’d agree at that point we probably bottled it, but it certainly wouldn’t be because we lost away to city.

Erm, how about death threats to Lovren?

Yes it’s a small majority, as we repeatedly discuss, but it’s totally embarrassing and portrays us all in an awful light.

Can't argue with any of that, Zed.

Oh and by the way, brilliant post, Kman92. if anyone has "bottled" anything right now, it is City. They were top and are now hanging on.

Rival fans of teams who have won the premier league don't want Liverpool to win it because it makes their club a little less exclusive. Also, like utd in the 90s/ 00s we were the Kings of English football for a long time and the English love to hate a winner.

Of course a utd fan is going to choose city over Liverpool. Its the same way Everton fans chose Liverpool over City.

Calm down people. I've watched every game and we look unbeatable. I know that's not true we have lost a few this season but we look like champions.

If mane shot goes in, it's all different. If the John stones clearance had crossed the line it would be very different. It was fine margins last night and city just edged an evenly matched game.

Thing is, they lost to teams that we beat in December. Palace and Leicester. Therefore we are still top of the pops. It is far from done, and let's be totally honest. Even if we had won last night, I would not have been rushing out to buy a "champions shirt" spurs and city are great teams who will be pushing us no matter what happens.

We are still favourites imo. We have the easier run in and we have a 4 point cushion.

Zeddicus, I presume the death threats to Lovren were made on social media? Do you really class the idiots who behave in such a despicable way as Liverpool fans because I don’t. They do not portray me in a bad light as I refuse to be associated with such vermin in any way.

{Ed025's Note - they are the lowest of the low WW..

Cowards, more like it Ed25 cos pretty sure if they saw Lovren face to face, they would not dare spout out the nonsense they do behind a keyboard in their mom's basement.

{Ed025's Note - your dead right redwolf..

For UK people - is there (ill-advised) resentment from other fans regards JFT96? I feel like I've read comments from other fans accusing Liverpool of always playing the victims etc.

Just thinking about these forums, there are loads of posters ya don't want to hear from when we lose or when we win for that matter! And thay can be nauseating amongst our own fan base lol. Can imagine that is amplified from the perspective of a rival fan. In an ideal world I'd love for world football to embrace the story but I guess the reality is not like that and we fans don't exactly help to shape that.

WW, I understand they were on social media - missing most of it as I’m on hols at the mo, but I read a few things. I totally agree with you in terms of not associating with them myself either, but to the outside world they don’t distinguish between the knuckle draggers who post this crap and the vast majority of us who are decent fans.

It’s not dissimilar to, for example, the morons who are leading to Chelsea being brandished a racist club.

Unfortunately, to other people who may be predisposed to think ill of us (i. e opposition fans) each group of supporters will often be described by the lowest common denominator.
