Listening to Martin Keown talking after the Arsenal game, saying he thinks Trent will move in to the centre of the park. My question is is that an option in place of Milner if Milner decides to leave next year? De Ligt is being spoken about as a 50m target for some big teams so why not try and get him and move Gomez out as a RB? It would then allow Klopp much more flexibility in terms of team set up. As he would have 3 genuine top quality CB as his disposal. I know we haven't been mentioned for De Ligt but VVD has mentioned him not to long ago.

{Ed0333's Note - why would you blow so much cash on a central defender when we have a superstar in the making in Gomez. What message does that send out? VVD and Gomez have the ability to become an astonishingly great pairing. Also Gomez is far better at center back than he is at right back.

If trent is to move up the park then it is a rb we need. Clyne is fine for a back up. To buy a cb makes no sense mate, gomez is a cb. He's that good he can play rb, lb, lcb or rcb. The guy will be regarded as England's best cb in 5 years time, if not long before. Sending out wide will do him no favours.

We have a wealth of resources. Matip looks better this year as does lovren and gomez.

The only areas I can even conceive are a better back up lb and a better back up keeper. If Alison gets injured we have migs and a nervy run in to April ;)

Also a true ten. I would love pipco back in this team. Can you imagine? Fekir would be great too.

Pardon my ignorance but has Klopp ever mentioned TAA going to centre mid and how many times has he actually played there for a Liverpool team be it reserves or youth teams?

{Ed0333's Note - he played there pre season

He's favorite position is as a central midfielder he played there all through his youth.

I actually think we're a better team without Coutinho. He scored some wonderful goals and was a little magician on the ball (plus he was my favourite player at Liverpool), but we look so much more balanced and solid without him.

Gradually ease TAA into centre mid and buy wan-bisaka. Happy days.
Also happy new year to everybody. Getting hammered in Cape Verde so no way I will be in any shape to message later!

Cheers.

Gomez is a cracking centre half but a awful right full for me he should only play centre half

If Trent moves centre midfield Crystal Palace have a very good right full although expensive we should look towards

Personally I think Trent is a victim of his own success at right full and will stay there.

Clyne is on a 100k a month a think so I wouldn’t say he was a fine back up! Move him on. find some one better on less man money with more hungry for the game.

If we're looking to sign a right back to enable Trent to move into midfield, it would be Benjamin Pavard of VfB Stuttgard for me. He was fantastic in the World Cup and surely needs to move to a bigger club at some point to realise his potential.

Wan Bissaka is a great right back, but if they would cost a similar price, it would be Pavard for me every day of the week.

I like the looks of Pavard also but like Gomez he is a CB that can also play RB. He plays CB for Stuttgart. He has a rumored 35m release fee. But I just feel De Ligt will go on to become a truly world class CB. Gomez no doubt is a special talent. Keown himself was calling for him to play CB for Liverpool last season. With De Ligt coming in it would allow Matip or Lovren to be moved on also. Trent then would become the new Milner as he could cover at full back when needed.

I didn't know Clyne was on that sort of money. That's ridiculous. I wouldn't say his LFC future is 100% over but it looks close.

But, if trent does move up to cm (which he played in league Cup loss too) and Clyne can prove himself, which he showed some class against utd. Klopp improves players, they all look better. It is Alison and van dijke presence. Then maybe we don't need a new rb. Fab, gomez and trent can all provide cover there and even milner.

The left side worries me more. No klavan, so no natural lcb if vvd is injured and if robbo gets a bad injury moreno is the option although I'd be tempted to apologise and ask milly to fill in again.

I've tried to like moreno, his effort makes him likable and he can attack but he is too rash. Imagine a run in with moreno as lb for 5 games. No. We need better cover at lb.

The midfield works so well, perplexed the gunners, so why a number 10. Who from our front 3 would be left out otherwise?

I think it must have been a typo but I’m sure Clyne is on more than 100k a month. i think it’s more like 70k a week.

Why buy a young cb to replace our already good young cb with huge potential? Rather we went for a right back if Klopp wants taa in the middle. Not sure he’s ready physically yet, when we have so many solid options there. I’d think we could get a versatile full back, who can cover both sides, but an adequate replacement when needed.
