Hi Ed’s and fellow reds hope you had a good Christmas. This topic probably has been covered so forgive me if it has but when we signed VVD I was happy with the signing but at 75 million seemed a hell of a lot to pay but he seeems to be worth 150 million Atleast. He is a complete beast who has taken us to another level. The question I’m asking is why didn’t the likes of Chelsea or Man City push for him as they don’t really have any problems splashing the cash or was VVD inisistent on joining Liverpool?

{Ed001's Note - this was dealt with at the time. Klopp tapped him up and convinced him to join Liverpool, both Chelsea and Man City thought he was too expensive so never followed up interest anyway.}

Ed001, correct me if I am wrong. Actually Chelsea thought he was too expensive but when City approached didn't he told them will move only to Liverpool.

{Ed001's Note - they baulked at the price initially, it was when Saints went back to them, after being annoyed at Klopp for tapping him up, that Virgil said he wanted Liverpool.}

150m maybe a bit too steep but sure he does look a 100m+ player now. Genuinely believed Liverpool massively overpaid for him but he may end up winning you the league.

I was very skeptical about him when he joined Liverpool but a huge chunk of humble pie for me.

Also this year the league looks to be yours to lose now. What has happened to City since mourinho left Manchester.?

Is there any inaide knowledge as to why VVD wanted us over City?

{Ed002's Note - Because of the illegal approach by Klopp and his going on strike to force a move to Liverpool. Klopp convinced him it was the right move to make. Done to death.}
