Hi Ed’s and Reds, top of the league and I’m loving it!
Just a quick one to see if anyone has any insight. I was thinking earlier that there are a few players from the Rodgers era who have left the club and gone on to be very good players. Such as Suso, Iago Aspas, Luis Alberto and to an extent Coates. I read an article saying that Aspas has a bit of an attitude problem and only really wants to play for Celta or Spain which kind of explains that one but if any of you have any ideas about him or the others I’d love to hear them.
Cheers and thank you for such a great site, I don’t post a lot but I’m on here every day.

{Ed001's Note - Suso was made promises which were broken on playing time etc. Iago Aspas was a very good player who never wanted to come to England. Never had any attitude problem at all though, that is nonsense. He was very well liked, just never happy away from Spain and wants to play for the team he supports. However we bought him as a very good player but he was up against Sturridge and Suarez and Rodgers didn't know how to utilise rotation to get anything out of him.

Alberto was another youngster who had broken promises and so was unhappy. He was also not really suited to the fast pace of the Prem. Coates is just too slow and suffered injuries which stopped his progress.}

Cheers Ed! Seems Rodgers only trusted his starting XI then.

{Ed001's Note - he just didn't seem to know how to get fringe players involved enough to keep them ready to make a difference. It is something that happens a lot, a lot have the opposite problem and rotate too much to allow players to build up teamwork. It is a really difficult balance and Rodgers was still just a rookie manager to be fair to him. He was given the job too soon, before he was ready. That is if he ever will be.}
