Cheers for that Ed001!

I hope you had a lovely Christmas yesterday. The weather is just pure bliss at the moment in Dubai isn't it?

Didn't Mandanda have a pretty short lived spell at Palace (last year wasn't it? )? How come it never worked out for him there?

Red Sandman.

{Ed001's Note - cheers mate, bit chilly though, I had to put a jacket on Xmas Eve when I went to do the Xmas shopping. Nice to be able to have the windows open though and not need any AC. How are you enjoying it?

I noticed Marseille completely glossed over that Palace spell. He joined Palace on a free but struggled with injuries and never settled in England either.}

Not sure if this has been asked to you ed001. After mentioning mandanda who would be a good keeper to potentially pick up at the end of the season should when mignolet leaves?

If mandanda hadn't have done so badly in England he would have been someone who would fit the bill perfectly for me. Good experience throughout Europe in that mid early 30s where he might be happy to be back up.

Would someone like that be who we would look at? I assume it is too early for young George or Kelleher to step up as full time number 2?

{Ed001's Note - personally I would rather let a youngster step up. It just seems a huge waste of wages to pay someone literally to sit on the bench. I know that will never happen because it is a risk to go with a youngster now the idiots have decided to go with shortened transfer windows. One day someone with intelligence will take hold of football and explain why youth development is being stifled by moronic decisions like that.

As it is I have no idea who would be a good back up, it is difficult to say as it is such a specialised position and so few are happy to be back ups.}

I'd agree Ed, I guess it goes back to the fixed windows. If as you wanted there were no windows you might get that opportunity. But no top team will risk for example Allison breaking his arm first game next season and have Kelleher and George battling for the first 3 months of the season. Could you imagine fans if it went bad in the first few games?

Anyway I'll take this chance to thank you and your fellow editors and wish all of you and all the posters all the best this Christmas and hope everyone has a great 2019.

I'll also throw out Ochoa as someone perhaps for number 2. Height might be an issue in prem but I'd take him as back up for sure if he was happy, don't know why I feel he would be.

{Ed001's Note - thank you Shane. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you too mate.}

Hi ed1. You don't agree with ed2 then that youngsters would bd better placed on loans actually playing gaining experience rather than sitting on the bench. As that approach seems bettsr fitted to me personally.

{Ed001's Note - no loans should be abolished. Big clubs benefit to the downfall of the smaller ones by allowing loans. They should get playing time when there are injuries and cup games.}

I agree with Ed absolutely on this. If teams are not going to develop and use the under 23, etc to fill in for injuries or needed depth, then scrap the whole system. It makes one wonder how many careers were lost because of this.
