I believe we shouldn't rest on our laurels and continue to syrenghten the squad. Imagine like we have three defenders out injured, we had had our three strikers injured. That would be catastophic. After all, that's why Man City are, with us, the favourite for the title. Your opinions please.

We don't have the means to have a similar-quality player for every position. The closest to that are probably man city, and even they have a significant drop off in quality in some positions. What would Barcelona do if messi, Suarez, dembele and coutinho were out? Yes, our forward back ups aren't world class, but anyone would struggle when you're only playing 5-10 games a season. And as for defence, we have 4 premier league quality centre backs, that's good cover.

We already have Mane, Salah, Firmino, Shaqiri, Ox, Keita, Origi, Solanke, Lallana, Milner, Wijnaldum and Sturridge who can play in forward positions and score goals. Lallana and Solanke aren't good enough and I think that much has become obvious this season.

However before we sign anyone to replace them, my first priority would be giving the likes of Wilson or Kane a chance seeing as they're doing so well out on loan.

Hi MK Scouser. The players you've aren't all regular and proven goalscorers.

I know it's only hypothetical thinking and yes, it would probably be devastating to our good form if something like that were to happen. However the same goes for any team in world football really. Even city wouldn't be able to cope with something like that.
Most importantly it is so unlikely to happen, that it's a bit silly to even put forward a scenario like that. I get where you're coming from, but there's absolutely no way you could assemble a squad with your aspects in mind - needing to have 3 forwards, 3 defenders and 3 midfielders or whatever of same or similar quality as our starters, that's just not a thing.

We have a strong bench, not the best, but strong enough to be game changing. Let's be happy with that.

Regular and proven goal scorers aren't going to move to the club in case of an injury crisis. Anyone that would move most likely isn't good enough, this is how we ended up in the position we did at the end of Rodgers' time in charge.

Personally? I'd like to see someone brought in in the Firmino mould who can okay across the front line, maybe not this January but that's what I'd be looking for. Otherwise I'd like to see Brewster take Origis place on the bench alongside Sturridge as I think he could be special and I'm of the opinion youth should provide squad depth in the event of an injury crisis.

Hamidou, we already have three defenders who are injured YET here we are top of the PL and winning games so I don't understand what your post is driving at. Said defenders should be back in about 3 weeks (TAA is already back for Newcastle) so there's that. Also, you don't need to have equal quality of players in each position to be competitive as LFC are currently showing.

All you need are squad players who doe not provide significant drop off from their starting counterparts and there is your squad. Even Man City who people claim (falsely, IMO) that they have a deeper squad (which they don't in certain areas) than we do, do not have that. It is all about having a homogenous squad whereby if say Gomez does not play, Matip steps in and does the job. If Matip can't play, Lovs steps in and does the job and so on. You also need versatile, consumate pros. like Milner who can come in and do a job just like he's doing now. We have a dynamic team wwhere majority of it's players are chipping in. Even Clyne, Lallana and Origi (who don't play near at all) have contributed their quota to our success so far.

And to conclude, Klopp has shown that he does not sign players in Jan just for the fun of it. We will strengthen if we need to and if we can. Saying that "we should not rest on our laurels and keep strengthening the team" is like stating that gambling is legal in Las Vegas.

yes Hamidou you are right they are not good enough and that's why they are not regular, but to get quality player in who can replace our first 11 effectively we first need to clear all these players off the wage bill and then get someone who is good enough to make an impact when needed and is happy to be on the bench when the first 11 is firing on all cylinder.
So far Kloop has done an amazing job with some of the back up player like Shaqiri, next few windows we will see is the change in quality much evident when we will sell players like Lalana and Sturridge and get some one who will provide better options from the bench. now will that be a youth player or someone bought, don't know.

What if we had 10 strikers and all were injured.

My point being you can only have x amount in players in a squad.
