I just don't get it ed01.we are on top of the table. beating our own records in the process. qualified for round of 16 from a tough cl group. but y still so much negativity by the fans?

{Ed001's Note - because people can't get used to the idea that we are actually good now.}

Unless we win the league or the UCL, there will always be a sense of negativity and inferiority amongst LFC fans after so many years of mediocrity. Klopp has got us challenging again but to be considered as top dogs and heavyweights, we need to win some trophies to be in the bracket of the elite.

I’ll be honest just to win the PL will do me.

as Indian said we have so many false hopes the last 20 years, every fan takes the mick and goes back to oh its our year (even tho I have never heard a Liverpool fan say that in my time) its more a sense of are we really at that level now as Ed said we are not used to it.

Winning the league would lead to a happy summer but first game of the next season if we didn't win 5-0 people will moan again. that's just the way it seems to go.

You'll never get moaning and negativity out of the game. And God help trying to stop fans from abusing other teams players when they are too happy to abuse their own.

I don't think the feeling of inferiority will go until we do get our hands on the Premier League. It is arguably bigger to us than the Champions league. Teams like us in 2005 and Chelsea in 2012 prove you don't need to be good all season to win the Champions league.

It's arguably harder to win the league. you have to be consistent week in week out.

It won’t end until we win the Prem. Once that monkey is off our back it shuts down many of the wind ups that we face from opposition fans and we can all cheer up and start to believe.

It seems that having a world class team that includes some of the best in the world in their position is not quite enough to have hope.

What’s great about this team is that it’s less the superpower of one player but a collection of good players getting results - we don’t look like a semi successful Liverpool team at the moment rebuilding every window. Its refreshing and dare I say hopeful that should nothing radical change, we can get ourselves competing year in year out from her on in.

True Shane, mate if we won 1-0 every single game of the season people would moan. Youngsters get impatient, people get paranoid but the be all and end all imo is we're improving, since Klopp came in we've done nothing but improve, that's enough for me right now. Trophies are coming, starting with the PL one once this season is over.

for some people it just seems like nothing but the pinnacle of winning a trophy is good enough. obviously it is good to aspire to win trophies. but the attitude that comes with it and then reactions to any perceived slip is just over the top imo.

we all want to win titles. but if ya can't see the progress the team has made since Klopp came in, then well, maybe we should all just save our breath for singing and chanting instead!

We are going to win something! Believe that! By the way ed25!the only thing Pickford's going to pick up in Everton is ball from the net!

{Ed025's Note - we are not expecting to won anything liverbird, this is a team that is re-building and it will take a few windows and some to get where we want to be mate, by the way your lot have won nothing YET...i might just remind you of this post if it all goes tits up my friend.. :)

Since 1990 Liverpool has been in the rather uniquely awful position of being one of the biggest clubs in the world, with all the expectation that comes with that, and yet we have a remarkable tendency to fall short. We haven’t fallen far enough for expectation to go away, like Everton, Sampdoria or Deportivo, but we never actually get to where we should be. We always come up short and the fans are rightly hurt and cautious, myself included. I mean under Klopp alone we’ve bottled 3 finals. You could argue that it would be more enjoyable if we’d completely fallen out of the running; we’d have no expectation, anxiety or fear of cocking up, we’d be able to enjoy each game as it comes for what it is. Once that first league title comes our way all the anxiety and pain will be gone. After that we may just be able to appreciate the football for what it is but make no mistake, the pain that the search for that first premiership has caused runs deep.

{Ed025's Note - i appreciate what your saying AW, but sometimes its hard to feel sorry for people who continually feel sorry for themselves...and are mouthy gits with it, you see you are exactly the same with man utd and you know what they say mate...people who live in glass houses and all that..

13.) 14 Dec 2018
14 Dec 2018 11:22:41
You summed it up there AW. Rather than saying we’ve been beaten in 3 finals you say we bottled 3 finals.
It’s an unnecessarily negative and overly critical word to use to describe your own team and players.
But that’s where we are these days isn’t it? If we win we’re the Harlem Globetrotters and will never lose again but if we lose we are a useless bunch of bottlers who will never win again.
I also notice further up people saying we’ve had years of mediocrity. Really? Try saying that to Leeds or Forrest or Villa. Now that’s mediocrity. Top 8 finishes for the past 30 years can hardly be described as mediocre.
You just have to appreciate how lucky you are to support this great club and be thankful for the many, many great times it’s given you. Yes there’s always lows but when the highs come my god they are worth it!

I love these kind of posts. People moaning about people moaning. Just relax guys and enjoy the great form we are in. As they say opinions are like a***holes everyone has one. And let’s be honest does it cause any harm when someone shares a different view.

14 Dec 2018 15:44:33
True JK but the moaners moaning about the moaners actually do have a moan to be moaning about. The moaners who moan for moaning’s sake are moaning when theirs no moan to moan about.
If you catch my drift?

16.) 14 Dec 2018
14 Dec 2018 16:09:15
Nope you must b drifting far. make sure it doesn't reach old trafford though can't imagine getting picked by someone like moaninho!

I would rather not shout from the rooftops just yet. Yes if we are 6/ 7 point clear with 2 or 3 games to go I will happily shout my mouth off to our rivals.
Until then let's just believe and pray.

Spot on, Ed25. I will never be sorry for such people who simply like to wallow in their own self-pity and that is the issue we are having with all the negativity from a portion of the fan base. I mean, we have fans who after they see a lineup they are not expecting, would just throw in the towel like "Oh, I fear we might lose today cos of the line up" or say with some kind of nonsense like"I just know we are going to lose today. What is Klopp doing? ", blah, blah, blah. I always wonder how they can support a team and still be this negative when things are going swimmingly at the moment

Also AW, we did not bottle 3 finals. That is simply NOT true. There are unique circumstances that did not go our way and of course, there are things we could have done better BUT to say we bottled say, an EFL final lost on penalties is ludicrous. It is these types of negative undertones that undermine what we are trying to achieve. For me, playing those finals were a steps in the right direction that ha s gotten us to where we are now, as frustrating as it was to lose them. BTW, winning or losing a final is like taking a penalty. Only those who play them get to win or lose them and NOT those who don't.

{Ed025's Note - fair points there red wolf..

14 Dec 2018 19:24:11
Why would we all be spouting off to rival fans when we haven’t won anything?

If we spout off now and then finish second we will just get mocked all the more.

I make the odd dig at the united fan at work (who is very irritating aside from being a united fan so deserves it) but other than that it’s best to keep our heads down until we can celebrate actually winning something.

{Ed025's Note - exactly my thoughts KK..

15 Dec 2018 11:31:21
KK92, I think it depends on what type of "spouting off" that is being done. We have come a long way since BR's disastrous final 18 months and that should be something to take pride in. We have not been able to win a trophy BUT it is not w/ o want of trying or better, playing some of the biggest finals we've played in over a decade now. That is also progress that we should applaud as fans.

Now this is not something to start getting overhyped about vs-a-vis rival fans like Chelsea, City fans who have won a whole lot more than we have. We are trying to be what they are so spouting off to the fans when we have not reached the objective yet is ludicrous.

We should remain measured and humble in our quest for winning a trophy cos to me, Klopp has already been a success as far as LFC is concerned based on what he has achieved and how he has turned us from a basket case to European and PL elite. The next step is to win a trophy to crown it all. Until that happens, we gave nothing to "spout off" about to rival fans, IMO.
