regards the situation of who might be captain . I assume it's safe too say that provided he is available VVD will play in every match (unless he is rested) of course Without being critical of Hendo I can't see him being regularly being first choice for every game because of the competition he faces. Therefore I think VVD should be given the armband. He has displayed his leadership qualities since he came and I thihk all the players have great respect for him.

What’s the purpose of stripping Hendo of the captaincy exactly? Hendo is a great role model and captain on or off the pitch and there’s no need to disrupt that IMO. VVD can still exhibit his leadership qualities during the game without needing to be captain and things seem to be working just fine as they are.

This whole obssesion with captain this and captain that. We should be applauding the fact we have many leaders on the pitch. Rather than upsetting the team dynamic by changing the armband from Hendo, who does an exemplary job on and off the pitch in representing the club.

no need to change the armband. Hendo is proved time and time again that he is a good leader, he is someone who is willing to change his game, his style, his personal goals for the team. He is has a never say die attitude. He is not the best midfielder in the world, i know that but he is the guy who took over the mantle from stevie g, changed his game and started to play at number 6 position when we had no one in the team who could have played at that position, played even when he was suffering through the plantar fascia and never gave anything less than 100%.
we all use to say that we dream of a team of Carra and Hendo has all those quality Carra had and we still abuse Hendo and want to take away the armband from him.
captain does not have to be the best player but someone who lead by example and is a role model for everyone. For me its Hendo and then Millie.
If i would like my son to have the quality of player it would be Hendo who might not have the most of talent but has the best attitude and people like Hendo will succeed more in life not just in football.
I have seen hendo giving the stare of death to one of the biggest bully in football- Diego costa and that was the only time Costa backed out of a fight where as stevie G was in the background and did not back up Hendo or the other Liverpool player Costa was bullying.

Spot on crazy horse, nobody says he is the best player in the world but i don’t understand the stick he gets? Is it because he is not gerrard?

He might not have the silky touch of keita, the drive from midfield of gerrard or the goals of coutinho, but he doesn’t have to. How many great teams and squads throughout history have had their water carriers? He’s the type of player fergie would have kept around for years and nobody would have questioned it. Maybe if we actually win something this year people will stop questioning Klopps decision to keep him around.

Agree with you SG. Even if he's not playing, I don't think he can't still be the "captain" or the "leader". A leader should lead in other circumstances as well, not just on the pitch. That's what leaders/ captains should be, right?

Even if VVD really has the attribute of a leader, what's wrong of having more than just one leader? Don't you think it'll be just awesome if we have a leader in defence, in midfield, in attack, and a leader for the whole team?

{Ed001's Note - I don't think people understand what a captain does. They should take a look at Man City, who are captained by Kompany despite him being a shadow of the player he once was, in the rare occasions he is fit. There is a lot more to it, from collecting fines to arranging team bonding to being an example in training. Henderson is a leader and should keep the armband.}
