Brilliant result last night. As well as getting through to the last 16 we avoided Thursday night football.

This is purely my own opinion so please don't hang me out to dry but I felt Hendo, Milner and Jini uncharacteristically gave the ball away far to often. Ok they were under pressure from a good side but when they had time they gave it away to easily. Van Dijk had to rollock them on a few occasions. We missed easy chances when we could have closed the game out. And that save from Alisson at the end, well it was straight at him.
Only reason I'm mentioning these points is had Napoli scored with that last gasp chance people would be on here tearing the team to bits for all the silly mistakes.
Other than that it was an unbelievable night lol.

On another note, can the club consider an appeal of van Dijks yellow because of the fact there was no intent other than to win the ball?

{Ed001's Note - that has been dealt with and it is boring now. Could you not just read down the page?}

To quote a referee

The declaration by a player that he or she “got the ball first” is irrelevant if, while tackling for the ball, the player carelessly, recklessly, or with excessive force commits any of the prohibited actions

VVD went studs up into the oppositions leg and could have caused injury, making it a reckless challenge regardless of whether he got the ball first. a clear foul

Verratti did the same in the first leg and arguably both were borderline red cards but evened out in the end. move on.

Agree about the giving away the ball part. I thought we played terrific football but there seemed to be an uncharacteristically large number of misplaced passes last night.

Can we not just enjoy a great night verdo. We were under so much pressure weeks before a ball was even kick so we are not going play quite right.
On to Sunday. 🤷🏼‍♂️.

I enjoyed the night alright Longthing76 but only from 10pm on lol.

Apologies to ED001 for boring you and not reading down the posts. Must remember from now on during my 30 minutes of lunch break to cut out the eating part and read all posts before posting myself.

{Ed001's Note - that would be better than repetitive posts dealing with the same thing yet again.}

If you're busy during your lunch break, wait til you've got more time to reply.

Just make sure you let Ed know it’s lunch break so he can drop everything to answer in time for you as well. Or, eat with your mouth, read with your eyes. Or, just wait. Or, get a job with a longer lunch break so you don’t have to prioritise sustainance over Liverpool.
