Just a quick question for you all, I don't know how many (if any of you) read the review of the day news round up I do each day, but on a Monday I used to do an 'And Finally. ' section on the end with footballing anecdotes based around a theme. After chatting with a group of people on here, they have requested I turn that into a separate longer article that I do regularly.

Anyway, for those that are interested in reading it, what kind of anecdotes would you be interested in:

Would you like it to just stick to football only?

Would you be interested in any sports-based anecdotes?

Or would you want it to also include slightly unrelated anecdotes as well? As in just something funny (well I hope it would be funny anyway! ) that came to mind.

If they’re jokes about the other Ed’s I’m in.

In fact, a good idea would be a roast of Ed’s among Ed’s.

{Ed0333's Note - there is absolutely no way I’d participate in a roast with Ed’s 001. I’m a married man.

It’s not the anecdote, it’s who delivers it that makes it good. That said, you probably shouldn’t do it 😂.

I really enjoy reading the "and finally" bit on a Monday Ed. I'd be happy for you to mix up the anecdotes with anything mate, not just football.

Anything for me Ed mate, would be good if you could do none football ones too for a change from time to time.

{Ed001's Note - ok cheers mate.}

Anything you fancy Ed's, there's a whole world out there away from footy.

{Ed001's Note - ok mate thanks.}

Mainly football with a mix of other sports thanks ed.

{Ed001's Note - thank you.}

More articles? Yes please Ed!
Appreciate the effort and time you put into your reviews and round ups. A funny story or two wouldn't hurt in my opinion, whether it's football related or not doesn't make a difference. Will be reading them regardless!

{Ed001's Note - thank you mate.}

I would like any. Football, sports, funny. Thanks eds.

Any sport anecdotes would be great to read! i've really enjoyed all of your boxing articles as well as the football ones so I'm sure you've got a few more great sport stories to tell.

I don't post as often as I used to but I read every article you wrote Ed1!

{Ed001's Note - ok thanks George, does seem to be the consensus to open it beyond footie. Which is good for me as it makes it easier to put them together.}

You are quite the wordsmith so the more topics the merrier I say.

{Ed001's Note - cheers negs, but be careful that sounds entirely positive!}

Hi ed001, personally I always love them regardless of "type".
Depending on your bank of available stories, how about one each every Monday to celebrate slow news day and end of weekend?

{Ed001's Note - that is what I was hoping to do, but have to see how it goes in terms of time in the busy periods.}

Full Trevor McDonald mode. anything at all.

{Ed001's Note - is Trevor McDonald still going? I hope so, I always liked him.}

I love your Monday reviews Ed, I think you’ve shown you have such a massive range of football anecdotes but I wouldn’t be averse to you broadening that! I’d say you could alternate by week - football one week, something else (be it another sport or something different entirely) the next and alternate? Would that be something you’d be open to doing?

{Ed001's Note - yes mate. I could certainly do something like that.}

14.) 10 Dec 2018
09 Dec 2018 20:59:11
Can’t wait Ed. I read it for the football but wouldn’t mind a few other bits and pieces. Maybe some six degrees of separation style things that start and begin with the beautiful game but bring in other things you’ve got on your mind.

{Ed001's Note - that was how I was intending to do it. Start on football and then just follow it down the rabbit hole, so to speak....}

Anything you think is funny or interesting ED. Mix it up a bit. I'm sure we'll all enjoy it.

{Ed001's Note - cheers Razor, I certainly hope so!}

Anything mate, I just like the little known nuggets that you manage to find. To be honest, if you just stuck to football you’d probably end up just trawling for hours trying to find stuff after a while anyway.

{Ed001's Note - that is my worry, it would start off easy, but a couple of weeks in the anecdotes would dry up.}

All different sports ed.

Anything sports related ed, funny, sad, inspiring does not matter as long as there is something to read.
Now a days you don't get great resource to read on sports everywhere. One has to dig for them on the net in between millions of garbage.

{Ed001's Note - These Football Times usually has a good read and Bleacher Report does a long read article every so often that is usually good as well (unlike a lot of the dross on their site). Just to give you a couple of other options.}

Outstanding post ed, might I suggest something on top of what everyone else has said, definitely keep with the sport and such, but perhaps additional anecdotes that aren’t going to cause defamation of character and get you sued (or just change a few names) . If you are doing enough on a regular basis, as time passes you’d fill enough material to get a humor/ coffee table/ bathroom book. You’d alluded to hopefully doing a book someday a while back and this could be an excellent way to kick on and get a grasp before doing a full novel (cos you obviously have time on your hands) . As it is, you have a willing audience and the roots of a fan base that would happily keep you on your toes and help you hone your craft. I can’t tell you enough how valuable that is. I’ll be doing a blog on my website soon enough on exactly how to get your book written all the way up to getting it released and pushing it successfully in the next few months so trust me when I say it is something you could do.

{Ed001's Note - my problem has always been, which is why I asked this question, if I don't have a strict topic to stick to and keep me on track, I tend to veer off on a long winded ramble about anything and everything. If there is a strict topic I can stick to it and keep the article on track, if not, well you just never know where it might end up! What I am doing currently is a short example article where I am not being strict at all and just letting it flow, so people can have a look and say whether that is the kind of thing they want or if they would rather I just stuck to topic.}

I think it should be left up to you to decide. We all already know that you are a football obsessed man, so there's no risk of you going off into tangents that wouldn't interest this community (if you know what I mean) . I think you limit yourself by writing only what is asked for (usually) . As a writer, you should be able to express what you wish to express. "Damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead". 😉.

Anything comedy based is good Tris. You can get too much footy talk. Get ed025 to chip in, he seem s to talk nonsense most of the time, so would add to the humour 😉.

Not sure of the legality but I would love to hear some of the funny stories that sportsmen have done over the years. there are some legendary stories about loads of footballers and sports star and their lack of brains. If it’s not possible to actually name the player/ sports star you could tell the stories but hint at who it could be with some cryptic clues. Not only would we have great stories but it’s good to work out some trivia and get the brain working.

I hear ya ed, you would be surprised what a little discipline will do for you. (Especially if you are into that stuff 😉) . I think most on here value and enjoy most of what you put down- not just being a lick arse but the fact that it’s entertaining. Whatever anecdotes you put in will be very much welcomed, as for going off topic or being unable to settle on one thing, just discipline yourself and be critical- if you go off topic and delete out of what you’ve just written a hundred times, soon enough your brain will trick itself into staying on target and writing exactly what you set out to do- be it strict topics or strict creative ramblings. My point earlier was building on what you are already doing, might I suggest how Carra has gone from doing the excellent loan reports and turning them into something a little more. As I joked about yesterday, an in joke between me and my wife has turned into a bestselling book out of nowhere. You never know how things will come about.

Some great feedback here and a real good load of ideas for how to structure it. Having a theme each time is a brilliant idea and then going on a ramble within the confines of it means you’d probably be able to turn up some really interesting stuff. You could even serialise it maybe, so that one weeks theme leads to the next, and so on. May be a fair amount of work, if you want or let it be, as the scope would be as elongated as you want it to be, but sounds like it will definitely be worth it.

{Ed001's Note - the problem with one week's theme leading to the next is that I have usually forgotten my own name if I haven't heard it within the past hour, let alone remembering the theme from the previous week!! However, I do really like the idea of one leading to another like you suggest.}
