Top ex pros always talk about how important it is to have leaders on the pitch especially when things aren't going well.

Thought I'd point out that IMO we have Hendo, Milner, VVD, Robertson (captain Scotland) and Allison (see Burnley at end getting players focused) . The last three all being quite new to us.

What do others think?

Ps does Fab remind people of a younger Matic?

was thinking about this earlier weirdly - all those have captained their country as well as salah, mane. keita and possibly Wijnaldum. that's a lot of leaders!

Spot on, OP. We have always lacked leaders in this team since Rafa left. I think people get so hung up on who is capt. (something only the English media seem to care about), they forget that you need a team of leaders. Back then, we had SG, Hyppia, Fowler, Pepe, Carra and Hammann yet ONLY SG had the arm band. The hope now is that the likes of Milner, VVD, Hendo (the club's leader), Robbo, Mane can continue to step up and be leaders.

You need leaders in all areas of the pitch, GK/ defence, midfield and attack.

Firmino is clearly a leader. Salah's status as a world beater makes him a leader of sorts and we have mane who has captained his country.

Hendo has only started around 50% of this season’s games. That shows there are other leaders throughout the team and squad.
