Some thoughts following the last match. Would invite other posters and Eds to give their opinions too.

1) Alisson - for those that's been crying out for him to make a save. He did made a rather good one didn't he? Yes it was of a saveable height but he still needed quick reactions and strong hands to keep it at 0-0 at that moment.

2) Robertson - great run for the 3rd goal. But I thought he looked too casual when he nearly gave away a penalty. Didn't defend well at all in that moment. Also, at times this season, he's been slow to keep the defensive line, slight worry for me.

3) Lovern - my moment of the match was seeing him turn their defender and put in a dangerous cross. I don't know which was more surprising - that Lovern actually pulled that off or the defender being sold though it was a predictable and not that fast turn. = D

4. TAA - what a free kick!

5. Hendo - Felt gutted for him. He put in a decent shift but seem to struggle against Success when he came on.

6. Shaqiri - he's helping us to penetrate. Looking forward to seeing more from him.

7. High press - it's coming back isn't it? Not quite clicked it but I thought I saw greater intensity from the start.

8. Matip - why bring him on again? I can't recall him doing anything meaningful.

9. Front 3 - getting closer. Would like to see more movement from them though

10. Doucoure - what a beast of a player. Oh, and isit me or does he look like Ryan Babel?

11. Where I live, there's an opinion piece - Liverpool are not title contenders even with this victory. Then who is? Chelsea? Tottenham? Or maybe Man Utd? Sure, City are favourites, but if we are not contenders, then who is?

12. In the same opinion piece it says Firmino is not delivering and should be dropped for Sturridge. The latter is more clinical no doubt, but Firmino is not briniging anything to this team? I wonder how some sports journalists get a job.

Some good points.
1. Yes he made a decent save, it's his job. A poor forward pass playing out should have been punished though, lucky.
2. Robbo almost gave a penalty away, but you failed to mention his run very late in the game to set up the third though. He's been great this season.
3. Lovren was your moment of the match? got to admit I still get nervous when he plays, old habits dying hard maybe, much prefer when Gomez plays.
4. Agreed
5. Tend to agree, but as time goes on I find myself agreeing with those that get frustrated at times with his decision making. There was one point during the game when he got the ball, turned and surged forward giving a 1-2 and opening them up. Needs to happen more, his default seems to be to receive the ball centrally from out wide and pass it back when often there is space to turn in to.
6. Agree
7. Agree
8. Completely agree
9. Yep, getting back to it. I don't think lack of movement has much to do with it though.
10. He needs to dye his hair red, much better potentially than Babel ever turned out to be for us sadly.

This was always going to be a game in which watford sat back. And once we scored gaps opened up and we won comfortably. It was great work by front 3 linking to score the first goal. And from then on it was us all the way.

Now here is where we have massively improved from last season. In all the first half and most of the second, there wasn't any time it felt like we were going to concede a goal, yea the football was bang average but we never looked like going a goal down. Last season this wouldn't have happened we would have conceded a goal. if people can't see that they are probably blind. We are defending incredibly well this season. Everyone is flattered by cities attacking prowess but we are incredible in defending, and pretty effective in attack too.
I think we will see us playing a sublime attacking game against PSG midweek. I could see the front three stepping it up in last 30 minutes of the game and that is what we needed.

why have a go at Matip? what do you expect him to do in 2 minutes?

11- we are title contenders along with Chelsea. Will we win it? I don't think so, city is the strongest and has game changers. Tottenham and Arsenal are just below us and Chelsea in the title race.
12- According to me the only player who can replace Firmino is Son from Spurs. If Firmino is playing good the whole team plays good. Sturridge not me in this team. If its up to me i will sell Sturridge, Origi and Solanke and get the #9 from Redbull Leipzig.
9- Dacourte is a beast and would like someone like him in our team. Would even swap him for Fabinho.

@Burkeyboy - actually i did credit Robbo. read the post again. and yes, Lovern's turn and cross was my moment because i sincerely don't know which was more amazing - him pulling that move off or the defender falling for it. it made me chuckle a little.

@redinchina - i wasnt having a go at Matip. read again. i was responding to the decision to bring him on. we were 3-0 up and the opposition wasn't exactly getting at our defence nor lobbing balls into our box. i saw the move as pointless and his lack of involvement and contribution just sums it up.

@crazyhorse - let's wait and see. there's still 2/ 3 of the season to play, don't write us off yet. can't disagree about Son, he's absolutely brilliant. Dacoure, if he's passing is just lightly better in the final third, i would no doubt take him over Fabinho. But he is really very good.

OP, I love your post and it is globally right. I for the life of me, do not know why people still give Lovs a hard time in spite of all the good things he has been doing since VVD came in in Jan. The guy played out of his skin in those months and got to a CL final where he shut down CR7, played a blinder at the WC (shut down Harry Kane) and played another blinder vs Watford yet he still gets grief.

I personally, like Lovren. Why? He is brave and never hides in games. He is aggressive and is rarely bullied. He has all the tools to be a top CB (Klopp said the same thing when he signed a new contract) with pace, power, passing ability, aerially good and is two-footed. If I can see that then I'm sure Klopp can which is why he is still here.

People may big up Gomez all they want (that's fine as he is a true talent) but IMO, Gomez is still learning and he still makes mistakes just like VVD and Lovs do but people will choose to ignore them and focus on Lovs' mistakes. I have moved on cos the Lovs of 3 years ago no longer exists and I wish people will just let it go. I could not be bothered if a player made a mistake cos if he did not, he would not be human. It is how he rises above that and improves that matters and Lovs has.
