I've read a lot on other sites that klopp has to win something this season for numerous reasons. However I think it's more than just klopp who should.

We have 1 of the best managers in the world, 1 of the best defenders in the world. 1 of the best goalkeepers in the world. A front 3 that can destroy any defence on there day and exciting options in midfield.

I agree this squad manager included has to win something this season, I no we don't have a right to win but I think we should be expecting things now.

Codtown, Klopp is a winner and has proven that in his career. If you read some of his interviews in his earlier days at BVB, you will see that tho he comes across as very sincere, honest and humble, he possesses a fierce will to win and people should not take his "jovial, down to earth attitude) as a form of weakness. According to him, he learned that from his dad who would always push him to be the best in everything he did esp. in Tennis.

Klopp is a fierce competitor who has very high expectations for himself and tho he won't say it out loud, he is always going into games to win regardless of whatever opponent or wherever the game is being played. There is a reason his BVB and LFC teams have terrorized teams domestically and in Europe. He plays to win.

Hence, the answer I have for those saying that he has to win something is that Klopp already has that expectation of himself and tho we have come painfully close since he arrived, he is always working towards that goal. The hope now is that it will happen much sooner rather than later.

Take no notice of what anyone on the other sites say. Like I said previously, it took Ferguson 3 years to win anything.

Where does it say in the rule book Klopp has to win a trophy this season.

{Ed025's Note - page 24 paragraph 2.. :)

What happens if we don't win anything is the question? What other manager should we seek to appoint? all the players are replaceable if they decide they must leave.

He put the pressure on himself when he arrived by saying “if I’m still here in 4 years we will definitely win at least one title”.

In fairness, he may have mixed up the words and meant to say trophy. His English is far better than my German but there were a few loose translations early on. And yes I know he hasn’t won a trophy yet but two European finals in 4 years is decent, considering the team he inherited. Personally, until we see the team no longer improving year on year, I don’t think we should be as passionately alarmist as some of us are. Many can disagree but the competition nowadays is far more competitive than twenty years ago, let alone thirty or forty. Especially the English league. I want to win everything, the league most of all, but we are playing catch up and so far this is the second year in a row we’ve maintained a strong league position. Moreover, we had glaring weaknesses he has moved to eradicate. I really see us winning the title either this season or next, if not, then perhaps there is a problem and klopp out 😜.

Spot on, AOE. Having lived in France, they consider Cups or trophies as "titles" so there is that to be considered. He said he "believed" that we would have won one "title" (meaning a trophy) BUT either way, managers say a lot of stuff when they are first hired and he is not the first one to say what his ambitions are or were at the time BUT as we all know, the reality on the ground is diff. esp. with what City is doing and the level the PL and CL are at right now.

It is true that he has not won anything BUT you have to consider what type of team he found (a true mess, clearly) and the gap between is and the rest of the now top 6. We finished that season 8th behind the mighty Saints and West Ham so let that sink in. He wiped out that gap within 2 and a half seasons to where we are now and I'm pretty sure we would all have taken that as a start at the time he signed for us. Does he have to win something? That's like asking if water should be wet.

Absolutely he has to and Klopp plays to win hence, the trophy cabinet he has now. The question now is can he do it here and he has proven that he can challenge with the best in the PL and Europe (He is the reason Arsenal and Chelsea are no longer in the top 4, which was a shoe-in when he came) . We have come painfully close at home and in the CL so we need to help him get over the hump and get it done. I believe in him cos the signs are there and I'm riding with him till the very end. YNWA!
