More than Shaqiri, I would like to see the 4-2-3-1. Although they may be doing well thus far, Watford is still a mid table team for me, and will be on the defensive. I am intrigued by a Hendo-Fabinho-Keita midfield however, and would like to see it at some point during the season (preferably against lesser opponents) . Have Hendo and Fabinho in the double 6 roles, and place Keita a step above them and give him some freedom to show what he can really do in this side.

ArAy1969, i would not sleep on Watford if I were you. Those guys are pretty good and their midfield is quite physical. They do a play an attacking style BUT believe me, they are not to be messed with. We need to approach games with a determination that knows no bounds. We respect the oppo., remain humble and go earn the right to compete and win. Just my opinion.

Evening gents I wouldn't start with Shaq, I think the front 3 are couple of games away from clicking. Watford will give us a sterner test in midfield than Fulham, so hopefully Hendo is back.
I would like us to break the bank and buy a top striker to give the guys up front some competition though.

{Ed025's Note - its 12 games in janmo, if they dont start clicking soon the season will be over mate..

I’d play same team as Fulham game except I’d replace win and Fabinho. Keita and Henderson / Milner. Presuming they come back from international with clean bill of health.

{Ed002's Note - So not the same team then?}

I'd start Shaqiri, Watford have been solid but that's exactly why I'd prefer the added creativity.

If not Shaqiri, Keita would be my first choice to replace him.

Fair comment Ed025 but we don't seem to be doing that bad considering we've not really played consistently well yet this season. The problem is if the front 3 are fit they play in form or not. Shaq is a good addition but he's not good enough yet to keep them out of the side. Sturridge isn't going to put pressure on either.

{Ed025's Note - doing very well i would say janmo, the one thing i will say is the team does not seem as sharp as last season and the play seems a lot slower..

Shaq should play in midfield. He can unlock a defence and is genuine goal threat, better than the others for me he should start.

I think he has done more than enough, to start matches now. Has the potential to be purchase of the season concidering the costs of getting him.

I definitely wouldn’t start with Shaqiri at Watford. Too robust and tight, they carry a threat up front. But a great substitute to bring on with 30 to go maybe.
I have a feeling the starting midfield could be Henderson, Milner and Gini.
Keita A’s first midfield change.

If we’re chasing a goal, then obviously Shaqiri will get a run out.
Been impressed with him though, good attitude and team ethic so far.
Very good technique too. Better centrally for me.

Point well taken Brover. In my defence I will only say that I don't watch every Watford game, aside from the off game here or there in a season. However, my choice of the 4-2-3-1 coincides with your intention of showing determination and aggresion, which I fully agree with. It's our most offensive setup to start off games, and also the one where our approach/ pace seems a tiny tad quicker. And with our record of surprise draws and defeats against lower table teams in recent years (of which I have seen every game) I am the last person to not take every EPL team seriously.

I also think that it's this formation that could drive the whole team to regain some of the "form" we seem to have lost. Ed025 is absolutely right. We're 12 games into the season. If not now then when?

Third of the season gone so it is time to kick on. Shaqiri has to start he is the one player (atm) who can unlock defences from deep. He deserves his place ahead of Firmino who needs a kick up the arse. Salah and Mane up front with Shaqiri playing behind them.
