Brilliant read that Ed001. What a fantastic performance from Fabinho the lad looked like he has the lot. Really want to see him start in the league now to see if he can maintain it at domestic level in England. If he can and Kieta finds his feet then Klopp will have a good decision headache for me when the big games come round. Wijnaldum looked like he loved playing next to Fab as well and again was excellent. I’d love to see how a midfield 3 of Fab, Kieta and Wijnaldum do. Although Shaqiri has been impressive this season as well.

{Ed001's Note - cheers mate, Fabs is an excellent player and he will prove that this season.}

Ed001 when all fit and on form. Who would be your starting midfield 3. I’d like to see Kieta play with Fab which may allow him more freedom as he has looked a little reserved of Late.

{Ed001's Note - horses for course mate, it would depend.}

Brilliant read, Ed. I also noted that the formation puts a lot of pressure on the midfield esp. when the ball is lost and the oppo is on the counter. This happened as well vs Saints at home where Klopp changed it up with Shaq coming off for Milner to stabilize things ONLY after we had the luxury of being 3 up. We did not have that luxury from the off vs Red Star so it takes courage to go out and play a formation that leaves you vulnerable.

I hope Klopp stays with this formation vs parked buses at home. As for Fab, he was brilliant after he ironed out his rough edges. Ed25 has called him a lemon so if Fab has a good season. There would be lemon all over his face. 'Hope I'm right. Can't wait!

{Ed001's Note - Fabinho is perfect for that formation as he is very responsible as well as having a top class range of passing.}

Thanks for the review Ed001. Do you think this "double 6" lineup is sustainable on an every game basis or do you think it is too offensive, particularly when playing against the top 6? Despite Red Star's limited abilities, I loved how we looked. We looked as good as Juventus agains ManU, methodically moving the ball around fast and then moving in with the incisive killer pass.

And do you agree that this formation, with Salah up front in the middle, is specifically designed for him to get maximum attempts at goal and hopefully get his finishing back on track?

{Ed001's Note - I don't think you can use it every game, it is far too taxing on the players. I don't think that entered into Klopp's thinking at all about Salah getting maximum attempts at goal, Klopp likes Salah in the centre.}

Ed, just want to ask further on your explanation above; when you say it’s too taxing, is it due to the 2 midfielders doing the job of a 3 man midfield (in respect of our usual 433)? Also, I know you made a comparison between Rafa’s 2 sitting mids and Klopp’s 2 box to box mid in your article and now, we have the flexibility to adjust, horses for courses and all that. if you don’t mind explaining in general terms, how would those 2 systems be most effectively used? Sorry if it’s a loaded question.

{Ed001's Note - yes, partly due to a lack of bodies in the centre, though one of the forwards can drop off to cover, but it means the there is usually a lot of space out wide. As it is intended to attack, it leaves gaps at the back, as the full backs will push on, there is a huge onus on the centre backs and the central midfielders to be at their best.}
