Still joint top. What I will say is Cardiff at home next in the prem so hopefully we'll do the business, city away to Spurs so maybe tonight's scrappy win might be better than we think.

hopefully we'll come out of that match without any long term injuries.

We did play like morons at times tonite but you're right, 3 points was all that mattered.

Roro, morons? Realy? Stopp with that nonsense, lad. Playing like morons would be going all gong-ho and then coming unstock in the last minute cos we were tired and could not finish the game you know, like we were doing last season when we had conceded 17 goals at this point back then.

Here, we played strategic football. We have a game on Wed in the CL where it is a must-win game and since we had injuries, no need to push the organisms to the limit. Sure, we had a couple of hairy moments BUT that's football esp. PL football. Again, Morons? This time last season, we had just gotten thumped by Spurs at Wembley with all the toys flying out of the pram and Klopp being penciled in for the sack. This season? We are joint top with City. We won. Move on.

I thought at times tonite we were dreaming and seemed lethargic, but like I said 3 points was all that mattered tonite. Ynwa.

Okay we aren’t at our best right now, but we are still getting the results where it matters. Taking into the consideration the fixture list (which left our team looking shot of energy before the break), the international break disruption and the amount of changes to our team due to injuries and the need to rest players, they don’t excuse our wastefulness with the ball but it does just provide some explanation as to why we were never going to be 100% today.

As for the terriers, their crowd created a raucous atmosphere from start to finish, and it was quite clear we were going to be the victims of their side firing themselves up for an inevitable reaction despite their run of form. They’ve had all international break to prepare for this match, we’ve scarcely had a few days. And yet here we are with another 3 points despite the odds being stacked against us.

Granted, if we get to Cardiff at home, with a weeks preparation and our team back to full fitness and feeling fresh, and we put in a performance like that, i will then begin to get worried about just how much longer we can sustain picking up results in that manner. For now though, its clear to see that we have certain other factors going against us and yet despite swimming against the tide, we are joint top with city. We are playing out this season strategically and with thought, and i have no doubt we will see the fruits of our labour later on, hopefully when city begin to go all out in the champions league and burn out towards the end of the season as peps teams always do.

Out of the players that stepped in today, i thought Wijnaldum was good second half, while salah provided a threat but is still lacking quality with passing and finishing somewhat. My man of the match today was Shaqiri, i really did feel he was doing his best despite the team not being in top form, a few moments of real quality including the great pass for the goal. Hoping to see more of him in the next few weeks, hopefully in the same role he was deployed in against southampton.

Keep in mind that this was the type of match that we would have lost points on in the past few years. We are unbeaten in the league. It looks to me that Klopp is pacing the team for the long term. We are in a really strong position right now. I like our team, I like our manager, I like our club.

Don’t get me wrong I’m not hating on the team. Most of the players tonight have worked their socks off this season and they can be excused a night off. I’m just saying some of the players who came in looked very hesitant, not pressing, being weak with their challenges and waiting constantly for the ball.
That’s the only negatives, the positives were our clean sheet, salah back scoring again and that fabinho looked good when he came on.

{Ed0333's Note - I know it’s his first game back after ions but for me Lalana was seriously culpable today. His flicks are needless and give away possession. He offered nothing to the cause and I don’t see what Klopp sees in him. I don’t understand how he got into the team before Fab. Credit to Huddersfield I thought they annoyed us sufficiently and with more luck could of had a goal or two quite easily.

Great result poor performance. We move on. It will start to click at some point which is frightening for the rest of the league. We’re joint top and haven’t got out of third yet.

Ed33, completely agree it amazes you to hear reports on how’s good lallana is in training then every time he steps on the pitch he looks like he couldn’t handle a game against an under 14s team. He was woeful today. Milner was also poor but let’s give him a break he’s been outstanding for us. But as we used to say about united winning and not playing well isn’t a bad thing. Once the front 3 click and get the measure of their link up play and passing we will be a real threat.

After 4 games without a win I’m not complaining about yesterday.

Spot on, Ron. And I'm definitely not complaining about wiping out a 12 point lead this season, that City had on us at this point last season either.
