Hitler and Donny Trump “men of the year” and sharing a front page privilege with Maggie. Do these agents just agree to anything without any due thought and consideration?!

{Ed001's Note - it is not really like that to be fair, I was just trying to make it more interesting than just he was covered in a piece on the future of football.}

Still, it’s like giving an interview to the Daily Star and not expecting a sensationalist headline about how football saved him from a life of cream cracker addiction and cleaning toilet seats for a Euro an hour.

{Ed001's Note - is Time magazine like that then? I have never read it to be perfectly honest. Having seen some of the covers over the years, I don't intend to start doing so either.}

Interesting regarding the match fixing ed001!
Do you think Arsenal will try and cash in on Ramsey even though he says he’s not going?

{Ed001's Note - worrying if it turns out to be true. Champions League level should be safe, you would like to think, after years of blatant fixing during the old European competitions.

Arsenal were the ones that pulled out of contract talks, so it would make sense that they have decided he has to go, but I can't see them bringing in a replacement in January, so probably not.}

You’d like to think it’s safe Ed001 but €5m is one hell of s gamble on five goals! Would they be disqualified from the competition? That would make the qualification process quite tricky as teams have already played Red Star. I suppose it would take a while for it all to be proven.

{Ed001's Note - if the match was fixed it could even lead to both teams being thrown out. I don't think anyone would shed a tear for PSG though I am sure we would all be gutted for Neymar... or maybe not. It is unlikely that any investigation would be able to be completed before the end of the season, so it would be most likely to lead to retrospective punishments, if proven, such as bans from European competition and huge fines.}

I'd be absolutely devastated for Neymar if anything was to happen to PSG for match fixing, I mean bloody hell, can't be having that can we? the poor little boy!

If true, it's disgusting and needs to be sorted out. Big if though, nothing is proven yet (probably never will be) but it certainly wouldn't surprise me.

Thanks Ed. Do you think anything will come out of the match fixing allegations? Have a greate day.

sorry stone forgot to reply. Hard to say as I don't know what evidence there is, but a 5m euro bet is very damning.

I do not believe PSG had any involvment in the match fixing, they are such a wealthy club and 5 million is nothing compared to the progress they could make in the champions league, this is a match they would have expected to win. It makes no sense on any level for PSG to be involved.
However, is it possible members of the other team could be bribed, I expect their wages are peanuts compared to PSG players, is football far more corrupt in this part of the world compared to the leagues in Spain, UK, Germany etc.
I am also familiar with this kind of bet, betting 1 team to beat another by 5 OR MORE goals is very likely if a few opposition players decide to down tools as it were.
On a sidenote, I also know a professional snooker player who has been given a life ban for blatant cheating and match fixing. He decided the prize money for winning a tournament outright was peanuts, compared to what he could earn for losing matches to an exact scoreline. His opponents knew nothing about it, but in 1 frame he was missing so many stupidly easy shots as he had to make sure he lost that frame.
Last saw him in August, he is still protesting his innocence regardless of overwhelming evidence.
Financial gain is more important to some than integrity and honesty.

On positive note, if PSG and Red is thrown out, then we will have less fixtures to play and we will be qualified to next round.
On sad note, I don't think the investigation will finish before league stages.

{Ed002's Note - I suspect you might have misunderstood something.}

It is one hell of a bet isn’t it, to win by 5 goals is pretty damn specific. I can’t understand how only 1team can fix a match to a specific score line, a result yes but not a score line. I can’t comprehend that PSG players would take a bung at this champions league level, could it just be a crazy, crazy bet?

{Ed002's Note - You appear to hr to be making a lot of things up.}

I’m really only going on little snippets I’ve read here and there, so I could be well out but they are known in the US as being quite a liberal publication but have a habit of dropping into right wing quite easily.
I suppose it depends who’s writing the article and who’s editing it. They always provide sources for their information, a reason why I presume they’re so popular and thought of as a good source of information.

Personally, when they offer me “person of the year” I’d decline it as I wouldn’t want to be associated with something that you have no idea where they stand.
Of course, I’m happy for anyone to correct me if I’m miles out.

In the 70's and 80's "Time" and "Newsweek" were "the" source of international news for anyone interested in learning. I was living in the Middle East at the time and remember anxiously waiting for the subscribed magazines to come in a week later after publication. "Man of the Year" was quite a big deal too. Both magazines lost their relevance in the 2000's.

{Ed002's Note - The IHT was the source of information for most.}
