Hi Ed001,

I saw you mentioned that our style has changed this season, not so intense with the press etc, due to the sports science team picking up our dip in energy levels at the back end of last season.

With our defence looking much tighter, this does make sense to me. Do you think this will be the plan for the rest of the season? Or could it depend on the fixtures and how we manage certain periods throughout the season.

It's an interesting one because we had so much success breaking teams down/ play in the opposition half.

I totally disagree with Neville saying " Liverpool were there for the taking " I was at the game yesterday and this certainly was not the case imo.

{Ed001's Note - I think it will change during the course of the season, probably ramp up the press in the second half of it.}

I think it’s just about the team learning to transition between the 2. They will learn when to press and when to play like we are now, if it keeps us up the top of the table till the final knocking of the season then it’s the right way to go.

Drogie, Gary Neville is just being bitter cos his club is now a joke. Also, how was LFC there for the taking, exactly? City could not muster a really good chance all game long (the Mahrez chance was a tough one) and Pep literally came in hoping for a draw and had he gone for it (you know, cos the worst manager in managerial history said so), he would have got his arsed handed to him like he normally does by Klopp. His lack of self awareness is astounding cos If I were such a failure at management, I would stop telling other managers what to do. or in this case, what games they should go for or not.

Totally agree. Atletico have had 2 distinct styles under Simeone for a long time as an example.

A high press, in your face style with pressure on the ball. And a much deeper rigid defensive style with men behind the ball and long balls up to the forward to counter.

I thought we were there for the taking. We weren't exactly threatening their goal and there were more than few moments where our midfield and defence were scrambling, tho scramble well they did.

Never ever seen Atletico doing a high press! They have only one style and it’s worse than Mourinho!

Harry, you clearly have "never, ever" watched Atletico play, which is NOT surprising cos you talk a whole lot. First off Simeone and Poch are Bielsa disciples cos they played under him with the Argentine national team and hence, play the same high press he did with a tweak here and there.

Atletico play a 442 diamond hence, very compact and the alternate between defending deep or playing a high line depending on what is going on in the game. If you doubt me, go watch the last EL final btw them and OM. Navy Keith just schooled you. You're welcome.
