I see lot of posts abt Hendo, here are my thoughts:

Good if you want the momentum going, he recycles the ball quickly, knows exactly where every team mate is and where possible threats lurk, most cases his positioning is bang on the money.

Bad if you want creativity, he doesn't drive forward, dribble or look for key passes very often. This is particularly true for tense situations where there are high risks. Team mates don't expect him to make incisive passes so rarely make runs in anticipation.

I think there are games and situations where he is indispensable but certainly not the best option in others. I personally think that he will continue to be in and out of the first team, horses for courses.

That’s just it. Hendo does drive forward but only when it’s necessary. He’s not supposed to do it frequently as we have plenty of options in attack.

And, he is also not “creative” in the sense of 1 on 1 attacking. But, he is one of the best passers of the ball we have on the team. Hendo is the first midfielder on the team sheet for me.

Very much disagree. Hendo should be condemned to minimal game time as soon as Fabinho is up to pace. Hendo simply slows the play down too much. As a top side we need to dominate games on the front foot like City do. Fernandinho in their holding role always gets the ball and looks for a forward pass first of all. Hendo’s first idea is always backwards to cb/ keeper or sideways to the full backs, he doesn’t do enough to feed the attacking midfielders and strikers.

I like Henderson but I don’t think he’s crucial anymore.
That’s progress and that’s life, it moves on.
As BRover said below, horses for courses and it’s about the best fit for a given situation.

We're not City Benny, we're Liverpool a completely different team, have you seen how incredible we've done this season upto now? come on don't start comparing us to them, we beat them 3/ 4 times last season, sure they ran away with the league will they do it again this season? will they hell, also, we knocked them out of the champions league mate so their midfield really worked in a competition they want to win the most didn't it? . They have a fantastic team but so do we, this comparing us to City is completely irrelevant.

Hendo is our captain and it's fully deserved, it should be completely respected as well, it really pisses me off when I see people say we should remove him from the team etc, there's so many people who are completely blind to what he can actually do.

Case 1 is the job of a holding midfielder which is exactly what Fabinho and Wijnaldum are doing atm! Aren’t they? or joe Allen was doing.
Case 2 is what you expect from a CM which he simply don’t do it anymore or we have made him to play deeper over the years.

His passings are mainly where he looks at which is to full
backs and center backs and one reason why we rely VVD to bring the ball out from the back.

Henderson is no Jorginho nor Keita!

The annoying thing with Hendo, or just about any player for our team, is how everyone speaks in absolutes. In my opinion, Hendo is not playing his best football at the moment, and that the team looks better when one of shaqiri, keita or firmino drop into a number 10 role at his expense at this very moment in time. Milner and Wijnaldum are playing better than him and deserve to stay.

I don’t understand how hard that is to say without dealing in absolutes such as ‘he’s not good enough’, ‘we don’t need him anymore’ or ‘he slows the play down too much’. Henderson is a very good player, he’s our captain, i don’t want to see him anywhere other than liverpool, i just think for the next few games other players should get their chance. We’ve all clamoured for bolstering the squad so we are able to rotate it according to form and injuries; but now all of a sudden taking a player out of the team must mean he is finished at the club? It makes me furious and sick that people have such knee jerk reactions in the world of modern football, particularly towards players who have given us so much and still have so much more to give.

Couldn't agree more Woolback. Hendo's importance will grow as the season progresses, he'll get back to form and when Salah and co are producing at full tilt we need a player like him to break up play, keep the ball, and hit teams on the counter with his long balls. It's a long season, we shouldn't be judging a player who has given everything to this team on 4 starts and 4 substitute appearances.

Henderson is our captain. He topped all the stats last year, milner too. He can drive forward. He is not the creative midfielder in the team so why judge him on his creativity. He is the engine of the team. If you want to see what he offers the team, watch the Paris game. He was phenomenal.

And there goes Harry again, comparing one of ours to another player who does not play for us. The names change BUT the pointless comparisons stay the same. I guess. Now regarding Hendo, MM is correct, He was brilliant vs PSG of Rabiot (a player that many believe is better than him), taking over the game in midfield and letting Neymar know it would not be a cake walk. Also, he took over the Roma game at Anfield last season where he shut down Naingolaan, (again, one who is considered to be better than him) all game long BUT his critics will act as if these examples (and many more) never happened.

Also, "He does not drive the team forward". What does that nonsense even mean, exactly. HE IS A DM. It is not his job to "drive the team forward" in the Klopp system. it up to Keita to do that which he does very well. I would ask Wiji to do that as well BUT I know he won't cos he is too busy hiding during games, something Hendo can NEVER be accused of.

All this about our captain that has been proved how critical he is to our team when he has been suspended or injured! What happened when Brenda nearly won us the league? It went down hill when hendo got suspended, the team win percentage is a lot better with him in the team than without him.
It's pretty wired that we are Liverpool fans but some are having orgasms over the Chelsea midfield!

Don't worry, Hendo's Bro. Whenever we win and Hendo has a blinder, crickets is all you will hear from his critics (which is normal) while some fantasize over Chelsea's and other teams midfielders (as you say) . I would ask "such" people to go support these teams possesing these midfielders BUT I know they won't. Klopp himself has said that Hendo is the leader and General of this team BUT obviously, his critics know better than he does obviously. Not too bothered, tho. Hendo is boss and I don't care how many poor games he has cos you know what, everyone has them EXCEPT of course, Jorginho and Kovacic.
