I'm sorry but what I'm about to say might be controversial. I have been reading the Man U page, initially with glee but now with sympathy. Yes, despite despising the club, I feel sorry for the die hard fans with what is going on atm.

Having not been an LFC fan for as long as some of you, I asked a friend who has supported our team for 50+ years how it felt going from Kings of Europe and England to a team that could not win the premier league. He agreed it did not become obvious overnight but instead sunk in after a few years. Same as what is happening at MU.

I read most of the pages regularly and recognise all of the regular posters on each. I enjoy many of the debates between them and incidentally learn more about football as I do. The despair coming through on the MU page is a shame.

When we win the PL, hopefully this year, I want it to be because we beat all the other teams in a straight fight, with all at their best. I am amazed to say that I no longer take any pleasure at the current situation at MU. I hope they overcome it soon and get back to their best. Cos then when we become PL champions we will know we have beaten all of the others by being better.

I understand pelters may now come my way 😉.

Sorry buddy, it's the wrong time time to feel this way. Let's wait until we have won a few titles and they have fallen out of top 6 for 10 years consistently than have sympathy for them. Remember, last year, they were getting the results in the early part of the season and finished above us in the table. They clearly have a lot of very good players who another manager will be able to get a lot out of.

I hope Mourinho stays for his full contract and they make the Europa League qualification spot their own!

What on earth have I just read? This toxic passage will, quite rightly, get many downvotes, and you can do much better than this, Litmanen.
I want United relegated and their fans made to suffer for as long as possible. All the grubby last-second wins, the dreadful refereeing mistakes in their favour season after season, Ferguson bullying the authorities, their awful chants about Hillsborough (I know we are no angels, either), the media’s obsession with “Liverpool being knocked off their perch” - I hope they never break out of this dreadful cycle and that they remain mediocre for all time.

Have Utd felt any sympathy at our lack of League success? I want Jose and Pogba to sign lifetime contracts and fight it out to the bitter end.

Never ever ever ever ever will I have sympathy for the United fans. They have lorded it over Liverpool fans for nearly 3 decades. I know it won't happen but I hope they get relegated. I repeat I have zero sympathy for them.

Litmanenfav, i totally agree with this. I don't want to see our biggest rivals go down the tubes. I don't want our biggest rivals to become anothet Leeds.

Its not like we have won it several times and they are in the relegation battle. we have won nothing yet and they are only 9 points below us. with the money they have it is really not hard to catch up again. sorry i just don't get the point.

In my experience Man Utd fans are the first ones and often the most vocal ones to beat you down when they get the chance. I never feel sorry for them. After what they have been able to witness during my lifetime, it would take a hell of a lot for me to ever truly feel any sympathy for them.

Now I agree that the club needs to be there or there abouts to make for a better league, and but feel sorry for Man Utd fans I do not. Not one jot.

I can't believe this post. How sympathetic have Utd fans been with our lack of League or trophy success? Do you really think the majority of their fans wanted us to win another CL last season? I want Jose and Pogba to sign contract extensions and bicker and fight as much as possible. I don't want them to win another League title or trophy for a long long time.

We shouldn't gloat. it they are in a position we were in with Hodgson/ Dalglish/ Rodgers. We know all too well what it's like and how quickly it can change.

Sorry but no.
I would feel sorry for them if they went into administration or if they went completely bust and vanished, but for having a bad season? No way.

I won't gloat about their situation but i don't feel sorry for them either. The amount of stick we have had from them over the years about history, i hope there plight goes on for a long time yet!

Utd can lose all their games and get relegated and I would not lose any sleep REGARDLESS of how many titles they have won or lost in comparison to us.

What are we even gloating about? We haven't won anything and the season isn't over so they could still finish above us. let's save the smugness for when we actually achieve something.

I have to say that i am thoroughly lapping up the goings on at United for so many reasons. They are the only club in the entire world i actually detest and would enjoy seeing them sink as far as they can go down the lower echelons of football. The thing that really get me in this situation though is that they have Mourinho and Pogba, two individuals who have been disgracing the club and should have been forced to leave a long time ago, yet most of the fans are backing them to the hilt. At least the United of the past had some principle in the way they were run, nowadays the club from top to bottom is a souless, money focused machine that has absolutely no structure or plan, a club that throws endless supplies of money and resources at problems and yet still claims to be the underdogs. The fans may moan about Mourinho and his players but they clamouring for all of them at the time that they signed. Its big hot mess that the fans themselves have created and they deserve everything that is happening to them.

No sympathy for Man Utd and their pathetic set of fans. We've suffered for so long seeing them win multiple titles, and they are a dog Id kick when they are down.

When you go to United United and you hear the stadium singing Murderers. No sympathy for them lot.
