Long time lurker, 3rd attempt at a worthy post! Just read an article on the irish times "mohamad salah os not a truly great winger" i agree with the article, in that salah is more a striker that starts his plays coming in from wide areas. Rather than him being a touchline hugging winger. My point being is i don't feel he is as effective this season playing from a central role up front as oposed to out wide like last season, do others feel this too? I would like to hear your opinions guys.

At this moment in time I'd agree. Hopefully he can get back to his best.

I get the system we have requires our front 3 to float around and swap which does work great, iv just noticed this season he is playing long periods centraly in games. He doesn't have the skillset and strenght for hold up play against large defenders for me.
I don't know if klopp feels this change will help him with second season sydrome or being double marked while wide, but its not worling.

Think klopp is trying to make it harder for the other teams to guess our play. Maybe salah will improve when 100% fit I don't think he's there yet.

OP if you knew how Salah was being used effectively at Roma, you would know that he was NEVER a winger. He was a striker, hovering in and around Edin Dzeko who was the target man. This is where he scored the near 20 goals in all comps. that he did while at the same time, serving as a foil for Dzeko who was Serie A leading scorer with 32 goals. Even Dzeko said he missed Salah cos he took a lot of pressure of him. So I don't know where you got this idea that Salah cannot play thru the middle whereas that is where he scored most of his goals last season. Also, him being strong enough to hold off bigger defenders, is really not true per se, IMO. Salah is deceptively strong and is able to hold off defenders, even bigger ones like Otamendi, Ogbonna, Alderweireld and Westergaard (of Saints who is 6ft 6') . I think tho, it is something he can improve on, IMO.
