Hey guys, remember when I was asked my opinion on var and I said it's great but the problem will be the officials.
Tonight VAR proved Barkley to be clearly offside. They reviewed it. Saw it. And still allowed the goal. Amazing.
( before anyone mentions Firminos arm, you should know that hand/ arm doesn't not affect offside, as you cannot legally play the ball with either ) you sort of just have to imagine everyone armless. Barkley 1 leg, head and torso all offside. Like I said. Amazing.

The officials are useless. They are officially pathetic. Hope Kevin friend gets banned.

{Ed002's Note - It was the official’s fault then.}

The referee was on Chelsea's pocket. How was that even a fault after what David Luiz did do Shaqiri was "nothing"?

3.) 26 Sep 2018
26 Sep 2018 21:48:30
How can it be so blatantly visible and obvious to everyone, except the VAR official? There must be some other invisible explanation for this.

Just said the same thing myself. I’d also like to know why Fabregas hand ball wasn’t reviewed by VAR. What a goal by Hazard though. definitely shouldn’t of been allowed to waltz through unchallenged but still. Chelsea are nothing without him.

They make the rule too complicated imo, Morata is in an offside position as the ball is being crossed in, surely he is effecting play. Yes if a player is injured on the floor use some discretion but just say any player beyond the last man is offside and make the whole thing easier.

As for the game there was so many changes it took a while to get going, in the end we got beat by a bit of great skill from Hazard. If I was going to pick a game we had to lose in this run it would be this one, onwards and upwards to the weekend.

Couldn’t agree more. If there wasn’t VAR, this was a tight call and it would have been understandable that it was missed. But having spent millions on it and still getting the decision wrong, decisions that VAR was supposed to get right, you really have to wonder what value-add is there.
Alternatively, we could be treated to another round of interesting justifications whereby the hand of Firmino is considered to be a body part that can play the ball.

Ed002, it was not the refs fault we lost, it was all on us but the decisions the refs take changes the momentum and mood of the game. A game must be decided by the 2 teams playing, not by a trigger happy has been that just wants some media attention. Kevin friend is a disgrace to the sport.

{Ed002's Note - You would not be whining like that if Liverpool won. It is a game of football. Liverpool lost - move on.}

Liverpool have only themselves to blame for losing that game.

Way too many wasted chances.

Shiqiri was lively and could have had a hatrick of assists. Felt a bit sorry for him getting what looked to be a bit of a telling off at the end.

Keita is only 60 minutes fit and needs a lot of work in defensive shape. Left side was way too open last 20 mins.

Clyne was dead on, migs was solid and moreno was well, moreno. Defending was awful for 2nd goal. Great finish at the end of it though.

Fabinho showed some good glimpses of what he's going to bring to the team.

If chelsea play that high a line on saturday we should be able to win with salah mane and bobby up top. Robertson and trent will also overlap way more which should expose them a little more than we did tonight.

26 Sep 2018 22:08:14
It certainly is ed, var allows no excuses, nor interpretation, it makes things black and white, sob the first goal is their fault.
Moreno and Keita let one of the worlds best waltz in to the box, and we got punished. That is their fault. The dishes not being done after my Indian is my fault.

10.) 26 Sep 2018
26 Sep 2018 22:09:17
VAR is for clear and obvious errors, that was not clear or obvious, so should not have been overturned.

11.) 26 Sep 2018
26 Sep 2018 22:10:15
Ed 002 I think the officials got the decision to allow the first goal to stand wrong after reviewing VAR. But I believe VAR is only there for clear and obvious mistakes and as it was such a tight call I don’t think it should of been reviewed anyway. The fact that it was and they still got it wrong is hard to take but the officials definitely didn’t play a part for the second. I’m torn between blaming the players for allowing Hazard to tear them a new one and praising the lad for his absolute brilliance. Either way what a goal.

{Ed002's Note - What about just accepting the result and moving on. This weird blame culture that has to attach to every Liverpool loss or draw is incredibly embarrassing.}

12.) 26 Sep 2018
26 Sep 2018 22:11:30
I can’t stand VAR. I’ve been saying it should be for black and white decisions only like offsides and ball out of play etc. but tonight we’ve seen they can’t even get that right.
On Sly Scott Minto has just said it wasn’t clear and obvious. It was offside! He either is or he isn’t and he is! End of.
Plus a linesman 2 yards from the tackle gave a throw in but Kevin Friend decides to give a free kick for reasons only known to him.
Just a massive cock up from start to finish and ultimately cost us the game.

13.) 26 Sep 2018
26 Sep 2018 22:12:58
The thing that confused me with the VAR decision was not looking at if Emerson was offside when Barkley played the ball. As he scored surely he should have been checked as well as it would’ve been a separate ‘phase’. Barkley didn’t look offside to me but was strange to check one phase and not the other.

{Ed002's Note - Apparently an FA and FIFA conspiracy against Liverpool.}

14.) 26 Sep 2018
26 Sep 2018 22:16:45
Ed002 you wouldn't understand because you don't support this club. Just moving on from a defeat is something amateur fans do. If you not frustrated by a loss then you aren't a real fan.

{Ed002's Note - Whilst not supporting the club I am aware that there are plenty (I probably exaggerate) of Liverpool supporters who can suck up a loss and move on. Being a supporter of Liverpool doesn’t mean you have to be bitter and twisted - although I suspect it helps. Look forward to the weekend, come up with some nifty ideas how to get a win on Saturday or Sunday(whenever it is). Should the side be tweaked? Both sides are a little predictable, so maybe a change of approach is due? Maybe play two false number 8s? Distract them by having all of the players wear eye patches and talk like pirates for the day?}

Scootinho every goal gets reviewed by VAR so after reviewing it they should’ve disallowed it for offside. The fact they didn’t is baffling.

26 Sep 2018 22:46:20
Didn’t know that Bobbys Blinders and I agree once reviewed it should of been disallowed but it wasn’t. We go again the weekend. Hopefully we can return the favour.

Ed002 I’ve accepted the result mate as I said I don’t think the first goal should of been reviewed in the first place. The winning goal was just a moment of genius from a very special player. I’m confident Liverpool will have plenty of decisions go for us that shouldn’t over the course of the season that won’t be anywhere near as tight as that tonight. Losing to Chelsea is nothing to be ashamed of it’s not like they’re Derby😂.

You talk about our players but how about Keita not being sent off? Pathetic dive in the first half which he got away with, should have been a yellow and couple that with his awful tackle on Moses in the second half. Next you'll be saying we only beat your B team.

Christ man! We lost, get over it. The first Chelsea goal was fine. We could have won but we didn't. We dust ourselves off and get ready for saturday. No point whinging and moaning.

26 Sep 2018 23:41:51
My god who cares, its a burden and distraction we didn't need (I have no interest in a cup named after an animal most brits had to google), it was a good game, stop moaning.

Hope wds is keeping you well stocked in g and t's.

On the bright side we play them again very soon and all the boys we ill be playing?

Sarriball. It was our b team bar milner and mane and maybe Keita. When you lot come up against the three musketeers you'll find out. Van dijk will keep hazard quiet.

Great player though hazard. Cherish him mate Cox he will be off on 8 months to a place called Madrid lol.

Just take positives from the game reds. we know now that kante doesn't fit for this system. plus that Azpilicueta can be prone for odd poor pass. and sturridge did ok. no where near Bobby though. though they did play a few starters just like us did other than hazard we don't have to worry about rest. and pressing is a weakness to jorginho's game. just watch their encounter against city. we are better than any team at pressing. we can have a field day. and about negatives. olwe desperately need vvd. and lovren or matip can't be above joe. clynes attacking instinct isn't as great as taa's. won't even go about moreno's. mane might be rested for shaqiri this week according to me. we also have to think about cl game this midweek. Mignolet was good for me. did 2 stops well. nothing he could do about noth goals . maybe he could have parried the ball to the other end for their goal but im not complaining. it hurts but let's move on . we have a chance to obtain revenge . without rudigers pace their defense is pretty slow. since emerson won't start. can target that flank as alonso isn't the quickest. and david lui is david luiz. well on to next!

{Ed025's Note - heres what i gleaned from the game liverbird...liverpool,s first team is excellent but the squad not so much, van dijk is the best signing the reds have made in many a year and is the most important player in the club, forget all this fabinho is taking time to settle garbage...hes a lemon pure and simple, i still think liverpool win win the league but if they get injuries to key players they are in trouble..

29.) 27 Sep 2018
27 Sep 2018 07:31:30
Agree on the squad strength Ed025, said the same myself a while ago.
Gomez’ emergence is a real blessing but I concur about Van Dijk too.

{Ed025's Note - i know people will probably say that bobby or salah are the most important player in the team juicer, but for me virgil is the key not just as a player but as a leader mate...exceptional..

30.) 27 Sep 2018
27 Sep 2018 08:11:39
Each to their own of course, VVD is very important to the team but the most important in my opinion would be Alisson, finally we have a top notch keeper, without him we'd still be leaking in goals even with a good defence.

31.) 27 Sep 2018
27 Sep 2018 13:08:33
We definetly need VVD ed. im confused who the most important player is! A. Becker? vvd? bobby? salah? mane? well. let's just agree that we need our team! every Liverpool fan will want epl above eberything. if playing once a week helps. then so be it. but ofcourse i want us to win everything too. but as ed02 pointed out. league winning is really important for the club as owners r backing on it. we need to lesses the debt no matter what.
