'City Supporters Too Big Time To Watch Lyon'

The arrogance is mind blowing isn't it Ed, yeah Parker and they beat you mate! unbelievable. I hope Hoffenheim and Shakhtar give them a good go as well. It's just all excuses, they just don't have tons of fans and it's as simple as that lol. What an absolute spanner.

Thanks Ed, hope you have a good day mate.

{Ed001's Note - it wasn't that long ago they were in the lower leagues, now they think they are too big for Lyon.}

Exactly mate, I don't know who they think they are, they need bringing down a peg or two, Liverpool will be the ones to do it! Suddenly they think they're the best/ most supported team in the world, it's humorous.

{Ed001's Note - they certainly lack support, even out here.}

Have to agree with that Salah, have they ever even won a European trophy? Cos some I’m sure lyon have come a damn site closer in recent times. I don’t care what anyone says they have still underdeliverd with the half a billion in 2 years spent. The only thing they have to be cocky about is their bank balance.

To be fair to City, we used to get some poor crowds for home European ties back in the 80s when it was pay at the gate too. There was a lot of youth unemployment then but it was only a couple of quid to get in.
And City did win a European trophy a few years before us too, I believe.
That’s no excuse to disrespect their group rivals though, it would serve them tight if they got knocked out.

I stumbled upon lots of these kind of statements of "no disrespect to bla bla" followed by insults. Is it kind of a trend now? Huh!

Haizan? Where’s the no disrespect to statements? It all came from a pointed ‘statement’ from city.

I used to (only being 5 or 6 years ago, mind you) quite like the city fans and the way they were riding the quest of a wave after all the new found success they had. It was like seeing Officer Murphy getting gunned down then waking up to find out he had a shiny new mega body in the form of Robocop. It was a nice story of resurrection and the fans were part of it, showing more disbelief and excitement than expectation.

Cut forward less than a decade since their first title and it seems they’ve all been taking night classes from Noel Gallagher on how to be total bell pieces, thinking not only would they win everything (which is perfectly fine) to thinking they deserve to and in doing so telling everyone how much better they are than everyone now or ever before.

I can’t believe how arrogant they have become, in such a short time after only winning not really a lot. As someone I can’t remember said, “Phil Neville has more league titles than that lot”. Fine, be confident about the future, be proud of what your club is doing in the community, but let your team be cocky and just enjoy it rather than telling everyone how much better you are than them.

{Ed025's Note - ...and i thought everton were the bitter ones.. :)

This reminds me of a question I posed to a group of football banter mates. I watched their game vs Lyon on BT Sports and the phrase "Champions League favourites" was said about a million times, which I found rather strange. I mean, are they? and if so why are they? I'd put around 4 or 5 other teams ahead of City for the CL. Some English punters seem to think that winning the Premier League makes you the best team in Europe. It doesn't.

Good luck to Grujic. Had high hopes from his loan this year as he seems to have done well last year in Cardiff. Hope it's not too serious.

Joey Barton is a. well, you said it best Ed, I'll just leave it alone. Although his criticism of Neymar is correct. But coming from Joey is like me making fun of someone being short.

{Ed001's Note - exactly. The world would be a better place without ****s like Barton in it.}

Ha, bitter, no. Like I said, I used to like them and actually root for them, even while they were winning (unless Liverpool were involved) . I just like people to remember where they came from and be humble rather than be like the only City fans you hear from now and forget they’d be nowhere without the oil money.

Look at it this way, a dog kicker who wins the lottery is still just a rich dog kicker. :)

Agree Angry, very well said. Bitterness has nothing to do with it. At least from my point of view.

Have a great day everyone.
