Ok right I'm not a fan of this Matip sub in the final 10 mins. The logic is the height advantage at set pieces but Klopp should cut it out IMO as it unsettles the back 4. But it did not 'invite pressure', as it didn't change the formation to a back 5. And you can't blame Matip for the goal conceded which was a worldly/ massively spawny. Made up with 3 points and perfect start!

There is no logic to this unless it’s an attacking change or an injury, it just unsettled the back line that had kept a clean sheet away to Tottenham up until that point.

It’s one of the few things that frustrates me about Klopp.

I see it as more Gomez replacing Trent at full back who's better defensively. Plus the added height of Matip is a reason too.

I agree with stoneage. it is almost like playing not to lose. I understand the strategy, I just don't agree with it. In my opinion, there are better ways to close out matches. However, we are still unbeaten in the league so, what do I know?

Just before Matip came on I was saying to the wife how our subs were excellent today - they made us STRONGER! Studge and Henderson kept a tiring Spuds on the back foot. All good! As a strategy of 'not losing' once you have a lead I much prefer keeping the ball as a tactic.

That said, a couple of points deducted for studge who really didn't seem bothered when he came on, culminating with turning his back on Lamela to concede the goal. Put your body on the line lad!

We have a strong bench. Going to be hard for some to ride the bench but in the long run it will mean big results for us. Fabinho hasn't played one minute, Shaqiri hits worldies in training and hasn't had much game time. and that's because we are a deserved 5-0 in the league. The real test is PSG. can the players who played 90 minutes today give 90 more?
