Ed2, you say we are trying to buy the league and debt is building at an alarming rate!? Really?! ........................{I deleted the rest of your post.}

{Ed002's Note - You should perhaps begin everything you write with "Speaking from a position of complete ignorance .........".}

Ed002 is the debt still something we can manage if we start being financial sensible now or has it got to a point that we could seriously be affected very soon regardless

Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - Before last season and without the spending/sales in the last three windows it is now back to being the fifth highest world-wide with the second highest annual increase (66%) of the 20 most debt ridden European clubs. Not impressive. It can be managed but the issue comes when the lines of credit run out.}

Ed2 wow, I had no idea we're in such a bad state.
I've got to ask, what would the club have to do to get a more stabilized economy going? Do you know if they have a long term/ short term plan to get us out of the debt zone?

I appreciate if you don't want to get into it or if it's too much trouble answering. Just asking out of pure curiosity as I know absolutely nothing about it.

{Ed002's Note - It is not a bad state, it is what it is. The debt payments need to be sustained and at some point the club needs to think about being more financially responsible. The owners are banking on the Premier League being won.}

Cheers ed, my lack of knowledge just made the numbers seem a bit overwhelming. Guess we'll just have to bring them the trophy then!

Appreciate the info.

What is the financial benefit of winning the PL? For example, how much better off are Leicester now (financially speaking) than if they came second? I am sure an impossible question to answer with any great accuracy, but I am sure some accountant working for FSG has advised them on the maximum amount of money available in order to so called ‘buy the title’. I am sure they wouldn’t bother if there wasn’t such a large financial reward, so just wondering what the reward might be?

{Ed002's Note - The advantage of winning the premier league is investment and sponsorship, profile, etc.. Why take the ridiculous example of Leicester as it was no more than a blip which everyone knew.}

Sorry Ed wasn’t being facetious using Leicester as an example, but because it probably would have given them a greater improvement in income than for example City, who you would expect to be there or thereabouts every year. I would guess that the income increase from winning the league that City would get would be much less than in Leicester’s case.

I suppose my point is, at some point this extra spending is going to fail even if we win it. Have we reached that point?

{Ed002's Note - Manchester City's income is well beyond that of Leicester.}

Although winning the league is the pinnacle, surely we will see a big difference just by getting top 4 and champions league every season.

Also I doubt we will see another summer of spending like we did this summer.

Lastly the fact that we have so many live games on tv at the minute shows how we are improving and drawing the crowds.

Its a matter of cost of debt and cost of equity. The finance teams works out the numbers on what is the best combined way going forward and I'm pretty sure its sustainable. (in layman terms)

{Ed001's Note - the fact they are keen on finding an investor to pump in some money suggests that it probably isn't all that sustainable.}
