Hi Ed,

Where do you stand on Klavan leaving at this time?

On the face of it, given our apparent lack of depth at centre-back, it may potentially backfire. Having said that, perhaps Klopp has every confidence in Phillips to cover if one or more of our starters gets injured.

Thanks!

{Ed001's Note - he deserved to be allowed to leave, he is highly unlikely to play any games.}

Good morning Ed,

Bit of a mess that with Bordeaux isn't it lol pointless suspending him, what does that do? it's daft. I doubt he'll return.

Thanks Ed, hope you have a great day mate.

{Ed001's Note - I think they just need to suspend him before firing him.}

We have 4 first team Center backs, Klavan was 5th choice I’m not sure where the lack of depth quote comes from. You might like 1 better CB to play along side VVD but these are probably the same people who want Gomez to get a chance. 4 CBs and one very good kiddy is plenty for me.

What a great name for an unreliable central defender, ‘Bomb Scare’. 😂
I was reading the Celtic pages last night and there’s some proper craic, with humour, on them. So many football songs originate up in Scotland.
There’s the never-to-be-forgotten ditty ‘In your Monaco Slums’, sung by Celtic away.
“You search in your dustbins for something to eat, You find a dead lobster and you think it’s a treat, In your Monaco slums”. LMAO, brilliant.
The CL is the poorer for their absence.

Shame about De Bruyne’s knee injury too. Happened so innocuously too, I gather.
Shades of Fekir, perhaps?

Cheers ed

Real madrid lol. Holy moley they have absolutely no shame. That club has gotten away with murder for years.

De bruyne being out for 3 months while good news for liverpool and city's other rivals is bad news for football and the premership. Special player.

Joel campbell finaly leaves arsenal. My word.

I know i will get slated for this, but I reckon Lovren will prove to be a quality defender this season, we have all seen how well he can play but he just had those crazy games every so often.
With Alisson in goal and Van Dijk playing alongside Lovren, meaning the back line now communicates, Lovren will have a great season.
In todays market Lovren is a £40 million defender. There are not that many defenders who would be a guaranteed improvement. I rate Lovren highly and he will prove himself this season.

You won't be slated by me greenflash, I completely agree mate and I think this season he'll be brilliant, he's now surrounded by top players and a fantastic keeper, it'll only improve his game, he has shown huge signs of improvement since VVD arrived too. I'd like to see Gomez and Lovren rotating though because I believe if Gomez is given his chance which he fully deserves then he'll be the long term Lovren replacement.

That's really rich coming from Real Madrid. They're doing this since a couple of decades now, and only a matter of time when what goes around comes around.

Agree fully on Lovren. He's always been one of those players whose form depends on self-confidence. And this must be sky high right now.

Yes, lovren is a 40mil cb easily. Probably more tbf. I think he has been surrounded by players at a lower level than him and it made him skittish, ta know matip and migs, karius. But I'm hoping with vvd alisson and taa around him we will finally see the consistent dejan we all hope to see.

Klavan for 2 mil is an absolute bargain. Struggled in his 1st year but impressed last season. It will leave us with only one left footed cb though.

Not from me, Greenflash. Lovs has always been a capable CB. In fact, he was so good that Lyon got him at 19. He is everything you want in a CB ability wise. Pace, power, good in the air, two-footed, pace to burn and a threat at set-pieces. Most importantly, Lovs is brave, relishes a challenge, never backs down and NEVER hides regardless of the things he has gone thru in his pro and personal life.

His prob was always that he is NOT a leader and has issues within his head, that leads to mistakes. Now, playing next to the erratic Skrte, Matip and Sahko don't help either. Since, VVD came in, Lovs no longer has to be the leader. He can just focus on his job of defending, end of story. If anyone wants to sign him now, it would be for 45m-50m. Hopefully, he can keep improving.
